Gnat Infestation...Neem Oil?

I've never had any problems with gnats in the past. Now, however, they seem to be all in my plant's soil. They run around the surface and in under the surface. I rarely see one fly though. They do have wings. I've been having lower leaves take on dark spots and rust spots. I started using a 3-in-1 fungicide, miticide and pesticide. The Neem Oil inside this solution should eventually eradicate the bug problem shouldn't it?

It should work, but it is also better to prevent this from happening by spraying your plants when they are young. You could also use a spray bottle mixed with a little soap, which should prevent further infestation.

Good luck.

Peace out

May I ask what your medium is? Soil? What brand? I bought some MG organic potting mix.. used one bag to plant some actual tomato plants and within days there were gnats. I think maybe the soil comes with them..

Many people on here swear by MG soil, in my personal experience with it DO NOT USE IT! Your better off using the cheapest soil at your local grow shop. I use FoxFarms Ocean Forest, which allows me not to have to feed my plants any nutes for the entire vegging period, but it does cost twice as much. It is also true some soils come infested with bugs :(

Yeah, I'm sure that will kill them off. I've used a product called Rose Rx 3-in-1 and it killed gnats pretty well when I had a problem. What also helps is letting the soil get a little try or adding 1 inch of dry top soil to your containers. Then as a prevention I hang a roll of yellow stick tape a few feet from my plants.

While we're on the subject of neem, I want to do an application, but are there any kinds of soap to avoid? all i have lying around is antibacterial hand soap, out of dish soap, and the antibacterial hand soap has triclosan in it. Would just something like dawn dish soap work?
