GMO pot on the way

Everyone who knows how the food system works is infuriated.
Problem is, most people do not, because they must research it themselves.
The mainstream media will not cover this subject,
because the major corporations have them in their pockets, as well.
It's very unfortunate and our founding fathers would probably burn this mother down and start over again if they were alive today.

If you all haven't seen this documentary about the 2008 financial crisis, I highly recommend you roll up a couple logs and sit down for this one. It's called Inside Job and you'll be more than a little pissed off when you get done watching it, especially if you've ever been put through the justice system for marijuana possession or cultivation, and have felt the wrath of the Government and the Judicial system for a crime in which there is no victim to speak of.

(sorry, I don't know how to embed video)

All US Citizens as well as Citizens of other nations were affected by the dirty unethical and illegal dealings of the bankers who created the mortgage housing crisis which collapsed the US housing market, primarily affecting middle class families the most, which was the precipitation for the 2008 worldwide financial crisis. I don't remember our Government saving any bankers from themselves (or us from the bankers for that matter), do you?

Oh, that's right, we just cut them an unconditional check for 700 billion dollars for fucking up the world, depreciating home values, causing a worldwide economic meltdown. And yet we get the book thrown at us for growing or possessing a fucking plant in the wrong jurisdiction or having the incorrect amount allowed by law. That's equal treatment under the law isn't it? Oh shit, that dam double standard always comes back to bite us peasants in the ass. Thank our Michigan State founding fathers for enshrining the voter initiative process into the State Constitution, otherwise we wouldn't even have been afforded 'some' protections under the law for growing the plant we all love. There are many crooked States in this country where there is no voter initiative process, and you are at the mercy of your legislators (scary, I know). Illinois for instance, yikes!

The aquaponics should be kicking ass next spring. 8000 lb of gravel tested our construction skill and we fail hard. 99 out of 100 blue gill died. Ha. That one left must be a tough fucker! I'm gonna turn him into a taco someday.

Will be finishing the greenhouse by fall.
Did you cycle your water before adding all that live stock? I've heard of a few people lately having trouble with the aquaponics and wondered if they had cycled their tanks first? You need a little ammonium in there first to kick start the nitrifying bacteria.

Any big company like phillip morris entering the cannabis game is good news for everyone. Those companies spending marketing dollars to promote cannabis will help it become legal everywhere.
Too bad they will also send their lobbyists to make the hoops you have to jump through ro legally provide the public with cannabis almost impossible.

The only reason its not legal natiinwide is because huge corps have not figured out how to corner the market.

Even colorado in its infancy had such ridiculous procedures to go legal that only one shop (probably with friwnds on council) was ready to sell on opening day.

I imagine it will only be worse when federally endorsed by corporate america

Within a few months my garden will be almost completely sustainable. My families diet is probably 90% gmo free. The food I feed my worm farm is free of pesticides and gmos. I have tried really hard to cater our diet and shopping to not support these people. I have an aquaponics setup (barely, fucked it up good) which should provide constant organic vegetables and some tasty bluegill too.

I think if people work together we can eliminate most of the GMO business. I also try to keep my money away from the war machine and most any evil operation.
Fact is..... its impossible.

Population would need to be curbed to be able to feed the masses with non gmo's.

*GMO* may not be the peoblem though. Heavier regulation on certain pesticides and hormones would be a bigger health impact on the populus than cancelling gmos.

Plenty of gmo species out there that are acrually doing good with no ill health effects.

You are what you eat, and what we eat are eating some nasty shit the FDA was paid off to be ok with :)

That is one of the finest comments about GMO I've seen posted on a forum discussion.

I don't have a problem with GMO per se, I have a problem with how companies like Monsanto are using GMO's and the patent process to conduct their fucked up evil.

I have a much larger problem with the horrible farming practices that we allow to be utilized in commercial farming (animals, vegetables, and fruit), where growth hormones and dangerous pesticides are implemented far too frequently (and in abundance) as a cure for lazy farming.

There's a delicate balance I think that our nation simply hasn't found yet. Hell, I won't even eat rice these days because I'm worried about the inorganic arsenic residue that is highly carcinogenic.

Here's a snippet of an article I think you'll all find interesting.
The topic is: Why rice contains detectable levels of arsenic

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/09/20/why-rice-contains-detectable-levels-of-arsenic.html

The source of all this arsenic is the subject of disagreement. The U.S. Rice Federation, the $34 billion industry’s house organ, insists that arsenic in the soil is as natural as sodium chloride in the ocean and oxygen in the sweet air we breathe. Indeed, arsenic is natural, and soil here, there, and everywhere has detectable levels, most of it in the form of organic arsenic, a much less carcinogenic version. But mankind has added to the natural arsenic a large amount of the more carcinogenic inorganic form in old-school insecticides, especially those used years ago, before they were banned, to spray cotton crops. It turns out that most of the rice we eat, 85 percent, is grown in the United States, especially in Arkansas, which supplies about half; Texas; Louisiana; and Mississippi. (California is the other big supplier.) Although the evidence is circumstantial, these former cotton-growing Southern states turn out rice with higher levels of inorganic arsenic than rice grown elsewhere.

What happened is....... We build a 4 x 20 flood table with 510 gallons of fish tank. The fish were ordered to arrive may 9. I was supposed to have vegetables started 2 weeks in advance but due to awesome Michigan winters that was not happening and most of my original starts died because they got to big inside and outside was still freezing. Next. when I had all the gravel delivered and put it in the flood table, it collapsed. I was one pump and about 6 ft of pvc from plugging it in. Anyways fish arrive, table still collapsed. Turns out I've been drunk for a year and have a stack of stout and mead bottles in the garage the size of a car. And I was too broke to repair. Oops........

Not drunk now. Back on track. One bluegill still happy. Lots and lots of lessons there. Also, I don't grow nearly as good of weed when I'm drunk.

Also as for the completely sustainable garden. Maybe 100% is a bit bold. But here is the plan. I buy killer organic food to eat and feed my scraps to a bokashi bucket. After bucket is full and kicking ass I mix it 50/50 with coco coir (also sustainable and hopefully I find a great bulk source). I then wait a while and feed my worms this bokashi/coir mix. This is the basis for the soil mix. I'm keeping it simple, I like Clackamas coots recipe alot. I figure with the fish water, homeade teas, endless worm casting and obviously a lot more research and I can come really super close.

I might add thanks to Rrog and his living soil thread. I thought my herbs were organic, and in many ways were but I was still supporting companies that sat on both sides of the fence. Reading that thread and many others like it have really helped open my eyes to the potential.

Teaming with Microbes explains it better than I've seen anywhere else. I also recommend the Woody Harrelson book "How to go further".

I also must add that a 90% gmo free diet is a summertime special. I will have to lower the odds as winter nears and my shopping habits will change with the weather, tons of organic food available this time of year though. If you start by eliminating words you can't pronounce and stop buying processed food your halfway there already.

Just read yesterday that the FDA approved 200% more roundup in out beef than before! Way to look out for my health dickheads!

What makes you guys believe it isn't readily available? We're behind the curve on catching on.

Surely you are all aware there are government strains. Pineapple express anybody?

It's already here and you don't even know it. No discussions.

Name the strains you believe CAN be GMO after giving it an educated thought.

Why else would big brother, who regulates and conditions our living, allow it to be used in some states and legally in a handful?

Wasn't uncle Sam against devils lettuce back in them days to only change stance after doing their "lab" studies and leading to patents and what not.
