Couldn't figure out the best forum to post this so figured I drop it in the best thread at rollitup:

Howard Marks, the notorious former dope smuggler known as Mr Nice, has told the Observer he has been diagnosed with inoperable bowel cancer.

“I’ve come to terms with it in my own way – which for me was about learning how to cry,” Marks, 69, said this weekend. “It’s impossible to regret any part of my life when I feel happy and I am happy now, so I don’t have any regrets and have not had any for a very long time.”

Marks, a long-time campaigner for the legalisation of cannabis, has already received messages of support from his wide-ranging group of friends. Artist Tracey Emin, the journalist Peter Hitchens, Sir Richard Branson, broadcaster Zoe Ball and DJ husband Norman Cook have all sent best wishes this weekend. Hitchens has praised Marks as a “principled defender of free speech” despite taking an opposing side on the legalisation debate. Cook and Ball have described him has “a ray of sunshine in our lives”.

Marks, who spent seven years in a high-security prison in America, has been raised by fans of his bestselling biography, Mr Nice, to the position of entertaining veteran of the drug-fuelled hippy scene of the 1970s. His confessional memoir, published in 1996, made Marks a household name and went on to sell more than a million copies.

........

Marks remains unrepentant about his life in drugs, but said he is sorry for the grief it brought his wife and children. “Smuggling cannabis was a wonderful way of living – perpetual culture shock, absurd amounts of money, and the comforting knowledge of getting so many people stoned,” he said.

He wrote a book himself and I think there's a movie of it too, I know of the book cause I always see his face on the cover walking past the sensi seeds shop close to the dam.

I'll have to get the book and see if I can find the movie, I love documentaries about things like this. I used to read so many mobster books and hells angels books. Such a surreal life style, glamorous really

Well, there's about 200 grams wet from one if the defoliated tangilopes. Figure 20% avg dry weight and minus the 10grams for stems or so, bout 1.5oz or so dry I'm thinking.. 20150130_175625.jpg mehhh. Will update with the dry weight when it's dry. It's pretty damn dank though

I read about the veganics and kyle kushman a while back, one of the high times cups, I think it was in CO, a veganic bud took first place. I don't know much about it but I have "flora blend" nutes by GH and it's veganic. My plants didn't like it I don't think when I used it in promix.. Not sure how to use it really lol

He looks like he could use some meat.

"Meaning nothing derived from animals."
So veganic means humans are not allowed to eat animals, and plants are also not allowed to eat animals, but animals are allowed to eat plants and other animals? Something ain't right there... sure doesn't sound like the next logical step after organics (which of course is hydro  )

Wow, Marks with terminal cancer, Marc Emery out of jail.

If you know Marks, might wanna refer him to this topic Citrus Limonoids as Anticancer Agents which my heart health doctor swears by based on a personal observation of one of her patients who had cancer and now doesn't, thanks to (what she says) are the benefits of anti-oxidant chemicals in lemons.

Soooo tired of the homeopathic pseudoscience.........might as well ask for the magic man in the sky to help you.
99.9% is hype, or, the pharmaceutical companies are itching to release a synthetic for profits and that's OK. That's what they're in the biz for, to heal but make a quick buck while they're at it. There may be something to this, at least in animal studies. Snopes says it's hyperbole, read the last paragraph. http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/lemons.asp

One needs to seek out scholarly studies - http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=Citrus Limonoids as Anticancer Agents&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart&sa=X&ei=5RfNVK3sOcjcoAS9qIDICA&ved=0CBsQgQMwAA

I respect anything that has to do with cancer research and quite frankly far too little capital is allocated for such things -- especially in the United States. However, I've read dozens of stories about anti-cancer compounds in various fruits and vegetables and spices and herbs that inhibit cancer cell growth in certain controlled animal studies with test tubes and what not but they always fall apart when it comes to the application of said treatment in "real life" situations -- which is why standard treatment is STILL, sadly, in 2015, surgery and chemo.

I don't know, I've just seen too many desperate people being jerked around by crooks who claim to have "the cure" -- follow my 8-step program and suck on these lemon peels and your inoperable bowel cancer will be gone in 1 year.......that kind of stuff just drives me crazy. If it were true that person would be very very famous, very very rich, and he or she would be a Nobel prize recipient.

Frustration not directed at you UB.....just passionate about the subject I guess.
