So are the GH 3 part flora nutes PH neutral? I do not have a PH meter yet, I do have the liquid drops though. My question is if the coloring in the nutes will effect the test result color? TIA

The GH will lower the PH of your water. If I mix it full strength it lowers the PH to about 5.2 or 5.3 so you would have to raise the PH after mixing them. Get your self a PH meter very important possibly the most important.

Dropped it from what PH (5.5)?
My question remains, if the dyes in the nutes will effect the liquid drop PH test (GH brand).
I dont think thats how those work. It should only react to the PH of the water. Dont think the dye will effect it that much. I still recommend a PH meter otherwise you will continue to guess and potentially harm your plant. I tried to grow my first plant without one. About half way through I started to have problems, got a PH meter and found out that the water that I thought was within range was actually sitting at about 6.8. Fixed that and presto back on track. After having a meter I noticed alot of things can effect the PH and it WILL change everyday. So you really need to stay on top of it or you will regret it. Best of luck to you :eyesmoke:

yes get a meter. and also if you are using tap water, get the GH MICRO HARDWATER (one of the 3 part). it helps with the ph alot better compared to the regular micro, yes i tried both and yes the comparison is worth it and noticeable and both micro reg and hardwater are same price.
i usually top off my res with water every 3 to 4 days so i can have enough to feed, then add my nutes, with the regualr micro, my ph goes from the first day 5.8, to the 4th day around 6.5-6.8. (thats with tap water and regular micro)
after switching to the GH MICRO HARDWATER with my tap, after the 4th day and sometimes even after that week (i get lazy sometimes to ph) my ph is at 6.2-6.3 MAX. does it make a difference? depends all on you.
as for your question, i never tried any type of ph dye, but i dont see how you can determine ph with color dye espeically when the 3 part will make your water dark in color o_O?

Thats how Ive always done it too but I read an interesting article in Maximum Yield that says you should try to anticipate the drop in ph before adding the nutes. Add ph up before nutes so you only have to fine tune with as little acid as possible once the nutes are in there because the acid will evaporate some of the beneficial nutrients. Also, they tell you to dilute it first in 1 quart of water or "100 fold" whatever that means. I think they mean 1 part ph up solution to 100 parts water but Im not sure. Just some info I found interesting. Nothing I read on the web either

it wont affect the color of the drops, but u need to look at the color in full spectrum light... warm light and cool light will make it look slightly different and that difference it huge in dro

I fully agree. I use rockwool and I always hold the bottle in between all the lights because it does look different under each separately.
