If any stoners were smart, they'd actually use the Hoagland solution. Been around for a while, pretty well tested by this point, unlike the mucus formula. Fortunately there's a fairly wide safety margin with nute solutions. They'll grow with just about any formula as long as all required elements are present in some fairly reasonable ratio, so the mucus formula won't actually kill plants, just not work as well as Hoagland I suspect. Apparently stoners have a dislike for scientists or something but they just love other stoners and follow whatever advise they might dream up.
so i guess you aren't a stoner since you are SO smart huh bob?
tell us how you made a freeze drier out of a dorm fridge and a wine bottle vacuum. i'm really intrigued!! LOL.

just not work as well as Hoagland I suspect.
yep, that's why you can search every pot forum on the net and you get tens of thousands of hits on Lucas (mucus, that's f'in funny) and 2 hits on hoagie formula.

Just an fyi, Floranova used in DWC makes a fucking mess. As it does in any recirculating setup. Clogs filters, leaves a brown coating on shit etc. I'll sometimes still use that one part when feeding via pump and water wand, but that's it.
For recirculating setups, I rock the maxi instead, way cleaner and cheaper than the floranova. The maxi is also cheaper and less complicated than the floraseries including the lucas formula.
All three imo have the potential to give identical results, as does the duo with the addition of more Ca and Mg. Might as well go with the least expensive! Maxi for the win.

There's so many feed charts out now for the floraseries.
The original on the bottle formula called for a total of 30ml/gallon of the combined parts(3-2-1, 1-2-3). Waaay too hot. Most of us had to find out the hard way back in the day that no more than 1/2 strength was where it was at. So when trying different formulas that are out there, look for the ones that use no more than 15ml/gal of the combined parts. And since you're in dwc, even less.
I have a Maxi Grow and Maxi Bloom from some years ago. I had really good success with the Maxi previously, and may go back to it at some point if I'm not happy with the Flora. I think I like the powder over the liquid.

I'll let you in on something I found recently related to nutrients. Scientists tried three iron levels in nutrient solutions for some spice herb plants like oregano and mint and turned out 5 ppm was better than 2 or 11. Got reduced growth and essential oils with those two but 5 worked perfectly. The thing is, if you look at the iron levels in most commercial nutes you'll find that they're lower than that. I guess iron in tap water supplements it, unless you use RO water. Point being, maybe growers would benefit from adding some iron to bring it up to 5 ppm. What source I don't know. Didn't look into much yet.
