Getting worried. Please help my newbness! stunted growth, yellowing, spots! pics!

Hi All,

I am getting worried and hope you all can help me. I've been pouring over the information available, but as a newbie, just can't figure out what is going on with my kids. They are 15 days old from planting in soil. They are in miraclegro moisture potting mix, RH is 40%, temp between 75-80, I watered them (distilled water) last friday for the first time and again a small amount yesterday. on one of them I waited for some runoff and tested PH, it came out at 6.8. They're about 15" under a 250w HPS. Please help me RIU!

they're not looking that bad. the challenge with using miracle grow is that it is pre-fertilized and can be too strong, especially for young plants. also, when watering, always water until there's some runoff, then wait until the soil is dry a couple of inches down.

Hey dude, i had the same problem, you can see my post, my plants came from clones though.......so a word of advice, anything miracle grow really is shit and just consumer brand garbage IMHO, this could be your problem, I would flush your plants and give them a day or two to recover, then get yourself some good organic fertilizer and slowly start introducing nutirents back into the soil, when transplanting I would really consider getting yourself some proper soil and mix it yourself, there are many soil mixing posts and posts of good soils and ferts to choose, I'm usin organic fish juice and it really has brought the girls back to life! BTW everybody on this site is pretty awesome and helpful they really helped me, i was a first timer too, still am but now my girls are rockin, ill dig up my old thread so you can see my pics and what recommendations I had given to me!

Sorry man can't find it, it may have been taken down, but basically what i told you is what I was told u
Hope this helps some!

Wow thanks for the quick replies guys! I had read mixed results on MG, and yeah, thats whats worrying me....so would you say this is nute burn? I have 8 plants and 2 of them are looking pretty good (think I put a pic of one in there), the smallest one started first, now 3 of them are getting the yellow spots on them, and they all seem to be sagging for the most part. From the research Ive done, it's like it could be nute burn or def, ph problems, watering, or heat/humidty problems, and I really don't have the experience to tell the difference.

The MG was on sale, so I grabbed it since my first time. I didn't realize how sensitive MJ can be! I'm regretting the choice already. Looking in the soil I can see the little fert balls, some intact and some not. One problem I've been dealing with is that my understanding is not too overwater and drown them, and the soil 2" down is pretty dang moist (top real dry of course). Sticking a cheap moisture meter in it tells me it's right in the middle of dry and wet. with the MG, some peeps say you need to feed it early on till the time release kicks in, some say don't touch it for longer, so ya, I'm one confused newb.

I am planning on using some real soil (peep seem to like Fox Farms, even though omg it's pricey, but I am learning it will be worth it in the end).

Will a good flush (100% runoff?) with distilled harm them this young, and any tips on good organic ferts for the rest of veg?

Again, thanks a ton guys, will start a journal here in the next couple of days to keep track. It's pretty amazing how involved this can become, even after only two weeks, but I'm enjoying it (if the kiddos pull through ;)

Peace!

second problem with pre-nuted miracle grow - flushing does not get rid of excess nutes, it activates the time release nutes that are there. you're kinda screwed.

Again, thanks a ton guys. I tend to be a process-learner, and it's hitting me like a two-ton heavy thing.Anyways, I'm wondering if a high PH could cause the problems, not just the nutes? Here's the story. This morning, I saw more browning spots on the girls - some on plants who hadnt shown any before - and after running errands with the wife, picked up some distilled water and some Fox Farms Grow big.I calibrated the Ph meter, and began to flush. The run off was reading around 8...WTF.So after a good flush, put some FF nutes in at 1/2 strength, tested Ph at 6.2, gave them some of that, and now I'm hoping for the best. So, to those who say MG is alright, I say - why take the chance? I'm hoping I'll be ok and the babies will pull through, but time will tell.Again, a huge thanks to everyone who posted here. hopefully I'll be alright and I'll get a couple females out that I can get a good mother from and then really begin the learning. I'll be taking some pics tomorrow morning and will start a grow journal tomorrow night I hope. Finally - and once again - The lesson here is I need to pay attention to the soil off the bat. I shall be, though I'm sure it will be a few grows more before I find something that works for me.Peace!

Hey guys. Plants are looking much better. Flushing and PHing is helping a ton, and hopefully will be manageable. If you're interested, there's a link ot the journal I started in the sig :)
