But making a compost tea is easy. Compost, molasses, and water is all you really need, but you can add other stuff. Bubble it for 24-48 hours and feed.

I have access to mushroom compost. I also live near a wooded area that have tons of composted leaf material on the forest floor. Would “forest compost” be alright to use?

The best way to get started imho is to begin with an established worm bin. The worm factory 360 tray system is like the best investment I’ve made in my grow besides lighting. It takes a few months before the worms populate and begin making trays of compost. Takes even longer to get worm leacheate oozing from the bottom spigot. Once established you’ll have active compost free for life; literally feeding your plants decomposed kitchen scraps. While virtually any type of active compost will work for your grow homemade ewc straght from the worms ass is what makes your super soil super. I don’t even bother to brew teas anymore as raw ewc in my mix directly does the same thing. Worm leacheate hand watered into each plant makes them pray in homage.

I was in the same situation, I was gonna go to town buying worm castings, alfalfa, kelp etc. but then I came across Boogie Brew organic veganic Non-GMO compost tea which contains everything I wanted in my tea & it’s so simple a nice 2 part tea which stores well. I also got the brew bag which was sold out but I was able to get it on from Monster Gardens in eBay. BoogieBrew.net check it out it’s so much easier & loaded w/ good stuff unlike the previous stuff I was using which wasn’t a tea just something you added to water but didn’t store well & hardened like a rock & ended up in the trash.
I feel like I've read mixed feelings on using the leachate or not. I always just dump my leachate on my compost pile outside when it builds up in the bin. So you would advise to use it? I guess a one time wouldn't hurt to try out. At what rate per gallon of water do you use it at?

I’ve been giving it to my plants for years now. They will like it; dilute it by at least half.
