getting algae

So I'm running an rdwc system and used clear tubes, and put a pipe insulation cover on them but there's a slight slit on the bottom letting a bit of light in. Just bought black tube to replace it.

But I see a bit in my res Also...

Is it something to be conserned with? I'm usinga ton of bubbles (2 ecoplus commercial 1's in six bucket setup)

Water Temps ate right at 72, I have a 1/4 hp chiller I'll use in flower ifi need to but right now I'm in veg.

Running
Aquaflakes a&b
Rapid start
Protek silica
Great white
Pond zyme
Cannazyme
And heisenburg tea (just bought new ancient forrest... mine was real old and dry)

In the next veg round thinking about cutting out greatwhite and pond zyme.... they seem to both leave sediments

algae is not a problem, its ugly looking
if it became very bad it could slightly block pumps/lines
but it does not do harm to the plants itself

peace

OK cool, is this something that comes with the territory or is there something i should be doing to try and remove it?

Also anyone have experience with pond zyme?

replace your res with this

yes, pondzyme is decent and a lot of people use it for bennies. the barley from the pz is probably what you are seeing. I use great white and I think it is good shit... I don't think you should stop using it. my tea recipe is great white, hydroguard (aquashield), gh ancient forest humus, blackstrap molasses. pondzyme works but I'm not a fan of the barley flakes, and I think it is better to spend a little extra for ingredients and bubble tea.

definitely need to get a light proof res and you can insulate it with reflectix or other insulation, which will help with light proofing. for the plumbing stuff you can get uniseals, spin tight bulkheads, and vinyl tubing connectors and adapters but you gotta have a drill and hole saws too.

I have
pond-zyme
Voodoo juice
tarantula
Piranha

They all seem to work just fine I used to use barley pucks in my pond at my house. They really helped keeping everything clean. The barley sediment isn't a bad thing unless it's plugging up your plumbing.

I never brewed tea just used pond-zyme . After I use all the bennies in a bottle I have I'll be moving on to tea.

Will canayme it self take care of algae? Or is it only going to eat up dead root mater/ make root soup?

Well i guess that's no biggie if sediment is fine... just trying to think how I'll clean it between grows. .. shop vac the bit i can get with the pump?

Or is the sediment not good. ..

I changed those hoses to black and did a rez change.. hopefully the roots start to go crazy... not a whole lot of activity after 2 weeks... pic is a few days old... so just under 2 weeks here by a few days

When I was using heisenbergs tea I had a lot of sediment from the earthworm castings(even though I was putting it in stockings it would still find a way in the tea). It would leave the sediment on the roots, it would spray right off, but sometimes would stain the roots if it was on too long.

I've had sludge build up on tubes before, plants grew fine. Even with black hoses.

Very early to tell but I have no growth yet in the new black hoses....

Also I just asked this in another thread but do any of you guys have a fishtank/pond smell in your res and is it normal?

Pond zyme is cheap as he'll 9 bucks for jar that will treat 5000 gallons. You can get it at most pet stores. It's what is used to keep pond plants and aqurium life clean and clear.
