Hello Guys i am new at growing and i have an issue i would like some help with.
I got Afghan seed and i did the Glass of Water method and sure enough after 24h i poked the seed and it sank i left it for another 24h and then a tiny sprout came out so i removed it and placed it in paper towel wet it not soaking ofcorse and after 24h it has grow en a tiny bit more but it now has been a full day and it does not seem any bigger
Today is 4th day of germinating and all i have it about 2mm sprout . I have it in a Zip lock bag wrapped in a black t shirt and under my laptop which is keeping it warm more less 24 degrees c .
Is my seed doing ok or should it have been bigger the sprout by now?
And last question
Can i skip the grow lights and go straight to Soil?
i am now in spring and where i live sun rises at 7 and sunsets at about 9. and its warm wethear like 24c and by summer should be around 29 to 35 c
Cheers
:D

Yeah straight to soil I don't even let my seeds soak for 24 hours and then place in soil with a heat mat works every time I don't like the paper towel method I tried it germination
was no problem but sprouting was some have better luck but I'll stick to the tried and true. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I'm with blunt, but everybody does it different. Sounds like you may have drowned them. If you are going to soak them, don't soak for more than 24 hours. Fresh seeds should not need soaking at all, just older seeds. Get them in their soil as soon as they crack. They need some oxygen.

If they really haven't grown in last 24 hours, time to start over.

Don't use the glass of water or paper towel method. The only benefit of doing that is when you plan on sprouting A LOT of seeds and you don't want to waste time planting any that won't germinate.

It takes longer to germinate and increases your chances of grower error.

I personally use root riot cubes and a heated propagator. If you continue to grow from seed I would recommend getting one.

What ever method you use I highly recommend planting directly into a medium or starter plug-no soaking overnight, no paper towels, no dark places. Seeds need water, heat, and light to sprout.

I agree with Bugeye. I soak all mine in a shot glass. After 8 or 10 hrs they will usually sink to the bottom. Maximum time in the water for my seeds, is 20 -24 hrs. I think you might have let em go to long bro, but I hope not, Good Luck !!

So when you said it hadn't grown, you were talking about the tap root in the paper towel?

I'm out.

@Bugeye ok i just read through it i understand now . So i guess i might have damaged my cannabis seed i am just hoping that because i did not leave it submerse for too long it will still survive. I have it now in the soil out in the nice sun light and watered it . How long does it usually take generally to pop out of the soil?
