old thread but i love the stuff. you can only get it at certain nurseries and i use it as the base for my soil mix. i add 5-5-5 peace of mind fertilizer, plant success granular mycos, worm castings, azomite, lime, and perlite. every two weeks or so i throw another small handful of the 5-5-5 and hit it with some fish fert. i've been tweaking the recipie for a while but i'm really impressed with this particular concoction.

it's not as hot as ffof. on its own i find it to be a fairly mild soil. before i went the organic route i did a single grow with it using dyna-gro and i had to feed sooner than i would have with the ffof. my only gripe is they don't seem to sift it too well and i find a lot of rocks and huge chunks of bark, but it's literally half the price of the grow store soils and it's very good soil. it definitely needs more perlite, though, and adding worm castings gets the texture just right.

I haven't been able to find any this season yet. I'm a little dissapointed because I do like the stuff and I use it most seasons to start my seeds or clones in before transplanting into something stronger. Like already said above, it's FFOF light. I was thinking about using it at a 1 bag to 2 FFOF this year. I have had a good tasting harvest using this cut 50/50 with good compost but it needs feeding.

I'm using it for my reg vegetables this year to see if I like it. So far so good, I'll 2nd the need for more perilite. I tested the ph and it came in at 6.8.

For my clients that are willing to pay for it I use it in color gardens. Very nice quality and, yes, mild. A good base.
