Total newb to growing but find it interesting, not really doing it for the money aspect but more as a project to develop products to help growers, at the same time maybe recover my money that went into this motehrfucker haha. This was a total solo build besides a couple nights a buddy came by to hang out, he did help me move all the 3500lbs of shit into the back yard. Here are a bunch of pics from conception to finished product and growing, some learning during the process as well. going to be a long thread ;)

so to start i designed the "shed" in sketchup for dimensions etc
    [IMG]
so begins the layout of the base with pressure treated wood etc then added some foam insulation to the floor, obviously to keep it insulated and the added benefit of a vapor barrier.

and then added of course the pressure treated plywood, and also added a drain to the floor and finally walls go up
    [IMG]

    OSB goes up for walls
    [IMG]

    gotta have roofing ;)

all inside walls were completely sealed (every possible space for leakage) with that great stuff foam and
the siding to make it pretty.
the floors were done with "flex seal" in white , ended up doing 2 coats, holding up so far, ez to clean
    [IMG]

electrical and some outdoor lights, then some low power LED lights inside just for "AUX" lighting
    [IMG]
put in an exhaust port 8" and mounted exhaust fan
    [IMG]

at first did a window AC, and moved onto doing the insulation
    [IMG]

so for the interior walls, i decided to just go with all Reflectix, no hard wall also added the scrubber and the ducting for exhaust (which i ended up not exhausting at all lol, good for a safety measure i suppose)
    [IMG] [IMG]

so ended up going the more efficient route of a seer 21.5 minisplit, left the window unit in as a redundant backup. of course a co2 bottle as well.

100 gallon water tank and RO system mounted outside (i did make socks out of reflectix to cover the clear filter housings) ,
6x 600w (equivelent to hps, but truly they are 255 watt LED as that is how much they draw)
    recirculating carbon filter/scrubber
    [IMG]

didnt want dehumidifier to take up floor space so i fabbed up a bracket to hold it from the ceiling from the handles built in the dehumidifier.
rdwc manifold and buckets n filters (made covers for the filters as well out of reflectix)

you can see the water chiller i had here, it was stealing all my humidity when it would turn on, started with a 1/4 hp, it was not enough, then went with a 1/2 hp, was enough but ended up going with a 1hp OUTDOOR unit to keep excess heat outside, while i was at it i ended up mounting the air pump outside too, it creates a TON of heat and drove hot air into the buckets, and then later realized it was also pumping in co2 since it was on the floor and im Co2 injection.
i did make covers out of reflectix over these PVC pipes so no light leak and it also helps with insulation. air pump is just hanging by some nylon cord ;) .

lastly added a network bridge to add security cameras for time lapse and one with 10x optical zoom so i can check the plants out where im at and look at them closely.

other things not pictures are the co2 controller, the peristaltic pumps for ph control, humidifier, and the ph controller. currently using the apera set of testing equipment for PH, EC, ORP.

let me know if u want any pics or have any questions :), really just wanted to share my setup.

so this is my first grow, and not claiming to be a pro, actually the opposite and super down to learn, already learned a lot from the first 2 weeks of this grow. Thanks for checking it out

wanted to try these out, you might be right, but wanted lower power draw, i might build some cob setups like the growmou5 guy, my par meter will be here saturday so i can see the par numbers, as long as i can get 750μmol then ill be satisfied, obviously want about 350μmol during veg. i didn't pick up a spectrometer yet but may do so soon to really see the quality of light. also they got good reviews so we will see, they are supposedly 600watt hps equivelent, 6 lights for 12 plants, they consume about 255 watts each, low heat, was already getting light burn at 24" above in veg mode which is about 50% total possible power, so we will see how these things will do throughout the cycle.

    Really nice work.

    What lights are hanging there?

    And...

    What about heat?

the lights are the viparspectra 600w led full spectrum from amazon, and for heat? i have 2 ac's in there, 1 mini-split and 1 backup window unit, also the water chiller would help to keep temps down as well since there is a lot of surface area on them buckets/piping.

That setup is gangster, and clean as hell! I don't grow mj personally, but I love building, tinkering, etc so your project should be a little inspiring to those creating a grow space.

Like I said, I don't grow.. but shouldn't you want a few oscillating fans blowing around in there as well?

Nice work! Brings back fond memories of doing this myself! I think link is still in my sig.

Great build skills, really clean and tidy.

Good move on switching up to mini split, you're gonna need it, esp as you seem to be in a sunny climate. In fact with that exposed roof you might find the AC runs overtime and this will lower humidity. In my room with DE's this can be drastically low and i'm adding humidity back in so the plants aren't throttling to stay hydrated (80F + 35% isn't good, IME).

Whats your sqft? And are you confident you've rated the dehu properly? Not saying you haven't but big plants WILL throw out a lot of humidity at lights-off. I had to get a big Quest 205 to handle night time humidity levels in a closed room.

Sounds good. But I meant to keep them warm in winter during lights out.

    Big issue here in Michigan.

i have hurricanes 16" one on each wall positioned halfway on each side oscillating :) probably just not in any of these pics, it already limited me to 20 pics so i had to combine a bunch lol. thanks for the praise ;)

not sure if its enough dehumidifier , its a 70 liter a day, plus the mini split, i suppose we will see. sq ft is 10x12 so 120, 8 to 12 ft tall.

Sorry. I think I was pretty spaced out when I wrote that. Lol. :-)

I want to build one just like it but I need a heater. It's really nicely done.

I don't call it OCD, I call it determination and attention to detail, and both win results.

If it helps, I did this with zero building experience beyond making a bar for my booze habit.

    God Bless YouTube.

learned to weld on youtube haha, made a 14 ft bar out of aluminum as my first welding project for my shop, n a trailer with shocks for my s2k ;)
