Hey guys, I know there are alot of you out there, that like cfl's becase they are cheap (not really when you have to buy a bunch of them) and they stay alot coler than mh or hps wich is tru and thats why I went that way. I did alot of research on flourecent lights while i was sproutin a few seeds with some cfl's and I came across this High Tech Garden Supply

I did all my homework and this is what i ended up buying, and I love it, I am planning on getting a few more sometime soon, I am posting this becasue I see alot of people spending way too much money on inferior cfl lights, this light puts out 10,000 lumen using only 108 watts and is 2' long so you get nice and even light coverage, its great for LST, you could grow two very nice plants with one of these if you LST, this fixture also has a very nice reflector, and these bulbs have a little more intesity and usable light output that regular cfl's this light is technicly a cfl because the bulbs are actualy 4 foot bulbs bent in half. Even those those big ass cfl's are 125 watts and put out 12,000 lumens, the way they are designed ends up blocking all the light coming from the middle of the bulb from reaching your plant, also even with the reflector the bulbs are so big that the light bouncing off the reflector loses alot of inesity by the time it hits the plant. I just want to help you guys out, I hate to see people trying to save money not get the best bang for thier buck, this whole light, with fixture and everything is only 69 buck + shipping and replacement bulbs are only like 13 buck for 2.

I just wanted to let all you cfl growers out thier know about this awsome deal. Heal is a pic of my plant, 3 weeks into flower, and this is the light i used.

Well thanks for looking out! That thing is pretty cool. Definately somthing to consider. Although its not right for everyone.
But...two 5000 lumen bulbs does not = 10,000 lumens. Thats like false advertiseing. 10 5000 lumen bulbs put out 5000 lumens, they dont add. Its like 10 1.2 volt batterys together still put out 1.2 volts. There's a whole discussion about this in my grow.
Links to good deals on lights are always appreciated though, thanks.

thnx both of you- two pieces of info i didnt know...

Question to metalhead: Do you have to use different bulbs to cover different spectrums with veg and flower??? I think the answer is yes, and if so- how much do those cost, and do you have them- cuz it looks like those plants have already begun to flower- if its with the wrong bulbs you will be disappointed when they result in loose buds and low yeild...

Nevermind- I just read the site somemore lol- your straight with the pair they came with! Tight- Do you have a grow journal, if not start one...!!! I wanna see what they do- my next grow is going to have to be stealth- and i love the way these sounds... and replacement bulbs are 13.95 for 2 of em- in both spectrums!!! and I know from experience with my mh and hps in my non stealth grow- that HTG rocks- they replace anything and will talk you through shit on the phone- explain techniques on cloning for me- there cool... Obviously use your public etiquette don't mention your specific crop...

Yes i realize that 5000 lumens + 5000 lumens is still 5000 lumens, BUT the number of photons coming off the light is doubled, therfore more food for the plant. I think it would be safe to say that one of these would be better than one of those big envirolite type bulbs due to the design of the light itself.

Ill post back to this thread with a final pic, jjust to show what this light can do, i used 6500k for veg and now im using 2700k for flower, I can't wait to see the end result! HTG rocks, those bulbs are so cheap and the great thing is that they lose light output very slowly, Only have to replace them every 2 years witch is alot beter than standard cfl's.
