Fruity Goodness: Jillybean, GDP and Strawbery Banana Kush

I'll find out in a couple of days. I vegged it only a little, and did nothining to it (no FIM, topping or training). It is stocky and short, with a ton of sugar-leaf. I can't even tell how much bud is in there, lol. I'll post what I get wet off of it (along with pics, of course).

It does have a couple main branches, but is so central cola dominant, and since it is such a slow grower without stretch, I'm tempted to SOG it in my next grow. I'd be curious if anyone has both trained and SOG'ed it and knows the difference in yeild and time to harvest.

Well,

I chopped the GDP at 8 weeks and 1 day. Wish I could convey the beautiful grape smell of her-- can't wait for a four-week cure with it, and will definately post a smoke report.

Here is the 'mug shot' view of the finished plant. She was only 1 foot high-- virtually no stretch at all. I like the structure and will likely grow out as SOG next time with at least nine clones in my 3x3 space.

Here are a few shots showing off her impressive resin production and color. She is definately a keeper, and I am starting to reveg her for clones.

Just because I don't want to neglect the Bangi Haze, here are some pics of this sativa, now 10 days or so from harvest. There are a couple more stocky plants that are about 5 days ahead of the others in development. One very sativa pheno (the one in the close up) has more feathery buds and more stretch. Fabulous branching, though, so if it produces the most sativa high, I will keep this one.

Hats off to Ace Seeds for producing such vigorous plants! They are just really getting frosted-- Looking forward to writing up the smoke report.

Last, but not least are a couple of shots of my sprouts, which have just finished their first week of growth. Some are already developing their third set of true leaves. I watered them with 1/6 strength fertilizer yesterday.

Hoping to flip to flower near the end of the month.

Yes, that's the revegging GDP in the pic on the left.

That GDP looks frickin great! I am definitely going to get me some GDP beans now. I am really curious about that RP Strawberry Banana. I can't wait to see and here your thoughts on the finished product of that strain. I'm subbed. Best of luck with finding some dank momma's!

Ok- I have been off-line for a bit. Sorry for neglecting you all. The trimming took a bit more time than I hoped, but I wanted to get back with the results of the Bangi Haze.

The Bangi finished off at a few days over 9 weeks, with a couple of the plants going out to almost 10 weeks. Here are the pics of my favorite plants, which I am now revegging to be my mothers. They 27-29 inches tall, with the exception of #4, which really stretched a lot.

In terms of the smoke (although I actually vape), I am happy with both strains, though they are very different.
Here are the two strains side by side (Bengi Haze on the left, GDP on the right).
bud samples (1280x850).jpg

GDP: The flavor off this plant is a strong fruityness that finishes with the pucker of grape. The high builds slowly; when it first hits I want to sit down and I am non-functional. After five to ten minutes, energy returns though, and have a good happy energy that puts me back on my feet. It is evenly split between head and body, giving me a nice body and head relaxation. It is a stoopid high, so any work-like tasks take forever. My sampling of the strain is great for going for walks, or puttering around the house. It is also a good durration high, lasting 3 to 3.5 hours.

Bangi Haze: Definate qualities of a sativa in this one. Flavor is subtle; some citrus, finishing off with pungent skunk. Since it's light in the flavor category, I find it unremarkable. The high comes on quickly and is all in the head. A soaring feeling that is very functional, unless I want to take more than two drags off my Hotbox. This is the kind of weed that I can fool folks into thinking I'm not high if I want. The high is short, not lasting more than two hours, and lets me down softly, with little to no 'burn-out'. Great regular daytime smoke, imo.

Now, finally on to the Fruity Goodness Grow. Just flipped to 12/12 two days ago (March 4). So, it was 5 weeks total from when the first one sprouted to the flip.

I was really lucky-- six of the nine Jillybean turned out female. I was surprised that the sex was so easy to read this early on, but they all have hairs and are certainly girls. Lots of good branching and thick foliage.

Crop 2 At Flip (1280x850).jpg

This is the first time I have started flowering under MH. I will run it this way for the next two weeks, in the hope of reducing stretch. Since I am under only 400w, every inch the light penetrates down the stem matters.

Very happy with how this grow is going. One of the things I like about Jillybean is that they are fairly uniform from plant to plant-- and all of them are good enough to keep. They were about 11" when I flipped. Two of the Jillybean barely stretched at all-- they are now at 12". The rest of the Jillybean and the Strawberry Banana are at 15"-- still not much in the way of stetch. I think using the MH for the first 11 days of flower has had an effect, but can't be sure. I will certainly try it again.

Here is the full crop (you can see the two shorter plants on the left):
FG - Day 11 (1280x850).jpg FG - Day 11 Top (1280x850).jpg

Here is my favorite plant so far: one of the Strawberry Banana Kush from Reserva Privada. This is only the second strain of theirs that I have grown, the other being Lemon Skunk, but my experience with their gear is solid. Good viggor, aggressive growth-- I am hoping the potency will match what I see so far.
Straw Ban - Day 11 (1280x850).jpgStraw Ban - Day 11 Solo (850x1280).jpg

Zero training. I imagine this would be a sweet specimin with some LST.

Note that I have the Kush in 5 gallon bags instead of the 3 gal. containers. Since I'm revegging several of the Bangi Haze and the one GDP from the last grow, I ran out of my 3 gal. I eventually want to convert over to 3 gal. Smartpots, but will run experiments to see what works best for Scrogging and for when I just SOG.

At day 11, there was virtually no stretch, and I switched to HPS. Over the next 12 days, the plants nearly doubled in height. The Jilly Bean stretched so much I had to supercrop them (tried just LST but a few stems creased, so I figured fuckit). They are very thirsty too, now needing a watering every 4 days. I have upped their nutes to 3.5ml Grow Big, 3.5ml Tiger Bloom, 2ml CalMag Plus and 2ml Silica Blast.

FG - Day 23 Top (1280x850).jpg

The Strawberry Bananna Kush is looking pretty-- stretched, but not as much as the Jilly Bean. I can't wait to do the next run as Scrog with these strains. All of them have lovely branching and lots of bud sites.

One other note: just started germing my next run, "Heavy Hitters". It will be all indica doms: Chocolate Rain, Herijuana and Buddha Tahoe OG. I'll post something when they sprout. Harvest for this next run should be done at the start of July. I shut down my grow room from July-August because it can get too hot-- and I like to travel in August!

I am really interested in the Strawberry Banana. I really want a strain that tastes like Bananas, but there are a few that are out there, but they are hard to get a hold of in non medical states. I want a straight up Banana OG without anything crossed with it. Basically like GGG's Banana Puff. Unfortunately, I didn't get my order in in time. I did get the Grape Puff and Cherry Puff though, and I just loved the Grape Puff. It is pure connoisseur smoke. I didn't get anything but average to below average yields off of the 3 females. They were all top notch. One being a big indica looking plant with big buds and not as many visible trichs but it was still covered in trichs. The trichs were inside the buds. The other 2 Grape Puff's were short and stocky with all kinds of very dense buds that were just glistening with frost! The buds were just gorgeous! They tasted exactly like they smelled. They tasted great too. The taste was exactly the same as the smell. Just freaking awesome!

Thanks for your reports on several strains. Hoping to get some variety of fruity strain from Gage Green, maybe as part of the 420 sale at Attitude. Wish he weren't so damn expensive, though.

I hope that the Strawberry Banana Kush leans a bit more on the sativa side than most the fruity strains (Purple Urkle, Grape Stomper, GDP, etc). I'll definitely post the smoke report.

The Bananna Kush parent for my Straw Ban Kush is supposed to be fire, but I believe the Crockett version is clone only.

For those of you following the Strawberry Banana Kush by Reserva Privada, I can now confirm that yes is smells like a Strawberry Banana sundae! Fuck yeah. If she ends up tasting like she smells and has a solid high, she will be a keeper!
Also, I am already getting some trichs, earlier than the Jilly.
Yes, this is what I have been waiting to see. Give that lady another 2 weeks, and we we really have some nice bud porn to look at. I really cannot wait to here your thoughts on the final product off of her. Plus I want to see what she looks like around harvest. From what you are saying it is going to be very nice. I'm growing a RP OG #18 that seems like a dud:cry:. I've had a 6 pk. for about 2 -3 years now, and my first one that I grew was just the absolute shiznit! This one is lacking in smell, looks, and frostiness. It doesn't even seem like it is the same strain. I am so bummed, but it is what it is. Everything else in my garden looks like keepers to me. I have a Reg. freebie Cali Connect Boss Hogg that smells like grape strawberry bubblicious bubblegum. I thought I was growing a Chem strain, but I get a fruity concoction instead. I am very pleased with it nonetheless. I also have a HSO Blue Dream, TH Seeds Underdawg OG, Big Buddah Buddah Tahoe, and a GHS Super Lemon Haze. They all look outstanding as far as bag appeal and smell goes. Some are looking like they are lacking in the yield department, but I just grow for personal smoke. With that being said I am happy with all of them except for my OG #18. Maybe she wilkl end up surprising me when it comes time to smoke her. Anyways best of luck with all of your strains that you have going. I will be keeping an eye on them.
