Fracking, what's the real deal ?

I think what may be an issue is the crazy amount of lube that drill takes to make it so far down. I guarantee that is some heavy space funk that is not able to contained easily. I think the future is all about sonic pressure....loud sounds essentially. We need a massive laser instead of a drill. I am very pro laser. The figures are that 15-50% of this lubricant is able to be recovered.
the lubricant they use is straight water. Water trucks like the ones that fill your water tanks for your home suck water up from near by lakes or rivers and load a water tank. Then theres a pump shack that only contains a big ass pump hence the name pump shack. That pump pushes straight water down the drill pipe via the kelly and as the drill bit turns there are holes that the water sprays out of. This forces debris to be pushed up with water on the outside of the drill pipe and up over a huge vibrating screen where samples are taken from and delivered straight to the geologists shack every hour. Theres some pretty crazy BS on this thread that just aint true. Im not even going to start pointing it all out lol, its really funny though :):):)

Yes, a giant amount, water source. You truck in bags of Benoite and other stuff, sands, etc. You make a slurry, called the drill mud. It is the lub, not straight water. It is also the carrier of the drill tailings to the surface. The drill is being driven from above mechanically, but when you make the turn you use a self powered head. Now, down bore pressure with 2 mile pressure head on that mud is vast.

There are small amounts of stabilizers and conditioners for the pressure other additives for the enormous heat. You don't want to be flash boiling your mud down hole, do ya?

Launch mirrors into orbit that reflect the sunlight onto a master mirror where thousands of beams converge to form an oscillating satellite coring drill perhaps...like for doorknobs.

"You don't want to be flash boiling your mud down hole, do ya?" This is my favorite collection of mono-syllabic words ever. Are you the dude from Primus?

I'm interested in concepts. You...not one bit. The feeling, being very mutual, we can proceed from that agreement.

Very interesting about the wobble. Don't know about doorknobs but I just found out how they make hex holes from
round ones. A wobble bit.

So, I agree it can be done. We send laser drills to Mars. It oblates the rock to gas, robot sniffs the gas.....mmmmmh. Pizza! :)

A space laser is a no, for this. The atmosphere, the atmosphere. You dump too much heat into ionization of the gases.

But, the problem is always power. So, tight beamed microwaves, solar collected from orbit could power surface lasers. Still needs about a 10 mile footprint on the surface. And the density is deadly, nothing can fly in and then leave.

So, lasers drill by heating rock into plasma and that gas temp and pressure must be maintained on that until containment or you will simply plate everything with condensed rock from gas.

So, laser = good. But, the right tool for the job in all cases. And lasers are lousy drillers.

what does that even mean....???
Drilling fluids or slurries have an assortment of additives that could be heat sensitive, most of which are for fluid loss control while drilling, starch, cellophane, cottonseed hulls. should one drill into a "hot zone" this could render cello, starch to degrade, allowing drilling fluids to leak into the formation, losing hydrostatic pressure and could cause a blowout.

You can proceed from that....I reserve my right to disagree. The option to talk respectfully is where I would like to proceed from.....I just cant understand why I merit so much contempt out of you? I find this concept very interesting and it does us both us a dis-service when I stop because of petty shit like not wanted to be insulted every time I get a reply. Can we talk?

Take the fucking complement.....you are brilliant.
Oh I never blush at compliments but they are un-needed for the entirely convinced. :)

Who is the guy from Primus...what does that even mean? (don't care about `11 2121)
I'm into discussion, not soap.

Well, I don't see how it can be that personal. I have no contempt for you. I have no recollection and don't wish to remember you from the other bone heads that add comments I respond to.

Yet, with that post on Taoism, I became interested, shot a rep comment and a like, and somehow you held a grudge I can't remember. I'm Now. And I take that very seriously. I offload every night. You probably didn't kill my horse on st pats. But, someone did.

So, no problems if we are not talking about each other, is there?

And it is impossible in forum to talk about someone else since I don't know you. When the boneheads get personal, well, I CAN play that back, honor the threat, etc.

Not preferred to intelligent discussion of Ideas, even when we disagree, correct? So, I'm ready if you are. I never start these things, but I finish it or ignore it. You are well above that short list. And now you are coming into focus as a normal.

How's that? :)

Les Claypool the bass player/singer from Primus, in case you don't know who that is...I meant that the meter and words I quoted you reminded me of him. It was another complement. Are you from the states? 11 2121 spells soap???

I'm a guy who cares not about these subtle references...they go over my head, time after time, as I've said before. I actually prefer the hated picture talk over that.

I play bass, not familar with this fellow, will soon be. Thanks. But, that's not lyrics. Mono-sylables is roughneck talk, talking about roughnecking.

Wait a minute Les Claypool...yes, I have learned a bit from his techique. But, mainly study Entwisle these days. And jazz.

I guess chatting like this I am unaccustomed to an absence of tone of voice. Perhaps you telling me that I am not interested in concepts just seemed insulting that's all, is that how I come off? I don't see that statement as a passive one....if somebody said that to you, you would devour them and I wouldn't blame you. I don't know the people that I don't want to.

I won't go tearing apart the past or re-hashing history. My friends know me for a distinct lack of nostalgia.

And please remember the only tone of voice we hear in forum is our own, as we decode what was written into our own unique context.

And we are similar in that I don't know very many people any more precisely because I don't want to. And don't care what anyone thinks about that.

But, we are not people here. Only printed ideas.

I feel you, can I ask why you see me as disinterested in concepts? I don't understand. It got my goat and that is why I said something. I get called shit constantly and really don't care, it is different here because I respect you. Indulge me and we can figure out Mars.
