Fozzy's bagseed expiriment

Hey everyone, Just thought I'd start my grow log. Today is Wednesday the 20th January 2010. Actual date of starting was Saturday the 16th 2010

My Setup:
9 seeds in beer cups w/ drainage holes
4 flouro lamps (Whatever the best ones were. I forgot the exact ratings)
potting soil (I'll grab the brand name later. The bag's at a friends)
Covering the flouros with a white drape for reflection and a snuggie so I can sleep.....Yeah I know....fucking snuggies.

Now I don't want to get to far ahead of myself but things are looking pretty good. Every plant except the last to break the earth is about 2 inch tall right now. The 9th plant was an extra seed I dropped in the cup by accident. I'm not sure but I believe the two seedlings will merge?

Anyways I have a fan blowing on them for strength but I believe my lights are too far away. I need to find a new mounting system for them with finer adjustment.

I picked up some fertalizer, 12-6-10 plus minors. It's called Vigoro Premium rose plant food. I had it and it seems ok but I might use something more organic. Tell me your thoughs on the fert.

Also I'm reading the newbie guides as fast as possible, but is there anything that I need to be wary of in the comming weeks? Maybe diseases that onset sooner?

Finally, I'm growing for personal use and I have my card. I'm enjoying my new hobby already and maybe someday I can grow super dank bud. For right now I just wanna make sure I can keep it alive lol.

I'll try to get pics of my setup soon. Thanks for reading.

Just thought of something. I'm on 24/7 lighting right now. Should it be anything else? I do have a timer but I haven;t been able to find a definitive answer except for 12/12 when flowering. Thanks

Going to run to home depot later today. Any must haves for growing?

Things on my list:
Another 2 Flouros
ph tester/ adjuster
Vegetation Fertilizer (If someone could elaborate on good fertilizers for all stages of growth I would really appreciate it)
bigger pots so I'm ready for transplanting (I've read 3-5 gallons is good. I have 8 plants so I'm thinking of going with 3 gallons for the first grow since I'll probably be flowering sooner than later)

Also I'm still confused on how a plant becomes a hermie. Is it a result of bad growing or bad genetics in the seed? If it's a result of growing, what are some precautions I should take

To avoid flaming I'm putting in a disclaimer: Every question I ask has been researched and I continue my research in my free time. If a question seems "noob" it's because I simply haven't found the answer. So please be patient with me. I am trying not to waste anyone's time.

p.s. my roommate has a camera. I'll take some pictures tonight.
Thanks for reading : )

Forgot the pictures. My buddy brought over some white widow and some northern lights that we mixed together. If you haven't tried the combination you should.

Anyways, I went to home depot last night and I felt like everyone who works there is retarded. I bought another dual fluoro and some twine for rigging it up. The ph tester is seasonal.... which I find stupid because many people own hot tubs and the t5 lights compared to the t12 were incredibly expensive. So I have a mix of t12s...which I guess will do for now. I may add another flouro later. I have 6 now. What do you think?

Plants are doing good. Leaves are all green with no discoloration, everything is growing strong.

I do have one concern, originally I couldn't get the lights close enough to the plants so they sprouted and stretched a bit I believe. Everything is about 2" tall I believe. Is this normal, and if I did stretch them, what would I do to correct this?
