so i have a bag seed germinating, actually two, and all i want from them, is well not much, they have been germing for about 36 hours, should i put them i the soil now with the small root and let it grow, or should i wait for the tap root to grow, even if i plan on just hitting it with 12/12 from the beginnning, i have a small 6x6 pot im going to put them in with some OF and wormcastings and perlite, without adding any nutes and keeping them on that light schedule i want to see what the starting power of the OF really is

like i said in my previous post here, i got a bag seed germinated in 3 days (paper towel method w/ a heat pad) and then when the tap root was about 4 or 5 inches i planted her in the OF, i have my lights on 24/0 and it pop up in 2 days, now i am then end of my first week and i got 4 leaves and a little sprout.

i just started a plant using 2 parts FFOF, 1 part worm castings, 1 part promix. This is my first grow and the clones came from a cloner. So far they seem to be growing good, does this sound like a good mix? Also when should i start to give them nutes? I'm not sure because i added the worm castings.

As far as nutes i was thinking about going with advanced.

I hate to beat this old thread to death but in case somebody views this comment here is what I did. When I first started growing I was making things over complicated (even though I hate to admit it) so I just germed one bean with the paper towel method for 48 hours...just enough to see a little less than a quarter inch of the tail. I put it in straight FFOF with nothing but tap water that had between 190 and 215 ppm with my HM meter and PH of about 7.5 (I know it's a little high). Anyway I just let it sprout right out in the open under some incandescent bulbs (just my kitchen lights) for about 3 or 4 days.

Then it was on to the humidity dome where I let it veg here for about 3 weeks. The dome was placed in my DR60 under 125W cfl cool white and (2) 25W cfl warm white bulbs. Then I took it out of the humidity dome and just let it be. I watered every few weeks. After about 2 months I used a light batch 400 ppm (600 ppm if you count the tap water) of Advanced Nutes grow cycle then my White Berry really took off.

After 3 months of vegging I had to flower because it was touching the light and the light was as high as it could go in my DR60. I've got 4 weeks of flowering to go and it is blooming like a champ. Since then I have planted 3 different stains in FFOF without any nute burns or anything and they look very healthy. Even tough I waited 2 months before feeding I think I should have only waited about a month because when I did start feeding it grew like I have starved it for...well a month. While this may not work for everyone it worked for me.

Just kidding I just made this whole story up. That's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

i use 50/50 mix of ocean forest and light warriorthroughout the grow with fantastic results. i have ised OF alone in past grows but i like the 50/50 mix better

ok FAILS.........read the nutes on ocean forrest and it is next to nothing . It has natural stuff like worm castings and stuff from the ocean. I use it plus some perlite on ALL MY DIFFERENT STAGES. The reason I use this is because the NPK values are so low , thus I am in control of what nutes my babies get. This is a great soil and I hvae never had problems. One time I couldnt get fox farm ocean and so I used organic miracle grow.....................NOW THAT GAVE ME TROUBLES!

Just my experience I share and the guy who said it has too many nutes is an idiot just read the bag

definetly disagree with this worm castings are some of the most fertile natural sources of nitrogen and other nutrients, along with bat guano and and sume "stuff from the sea" it has many things like peat moss and potash ocean forest is extremely feritle and is know for burning plants if perlite isnt added at a good percentage. i reccomend ocean forest to anyone but happyfrog is my second, i also dont try to complicate finding nutrient percentages by adding soo many different types of soil but ass ferts of different mixtures its much easier to control.

depends on your set up dude , light warrior is easy on the little ones though and ocean is decent pick which one fits your setup thats all i can say

So what is the bottom line on the soil? Is it safe to start seeds in it? Some say it's hot, some say it's not? How long should I not add any FoxFarm Trio nutrients when growing in it?

Be careful worm castings release nitrogen slowly and I think forest floor already has worm castings according to the bag in my room as well as guano basically it has organic sources of nitrogen and phosphate built in so carefully with the added nutes

I had a blue treacle burn in fox farm recently which is blueberry and sweet tooth. However only a few leaves were affected I flushed it and it seems to be recovering. So I'll be following this thread. Also the npk is not listed on fox farm oc floor bag anyone know what it is?

Thanks for the comment doctor = ), glad you like it

Anyone tried any of Fox Farms other soils? Light warrior? happy frog?
I use light warrior for every seedling I have ever grown, I think its just habit now. I will grow them in there for about two weeks or when ever the second set of leaves develop, now mind you this is not the golden rule, and you will have to make your own calls. I am about ready to put these newest babies in my 3 gallon pots where I will veg them for 2 to 2.5 months Then I will begin flower.. sometimes depending on the strain I will move them from 3's to 5's for the finally few months, Once again this is not always the case, just however I am feeling. So my recommendation is once your beans crack put them in a small pot of light warrior.. do not water the hell out of it lol, although I will get the soil wet before I put the seed in, I put about a half a cup of water on the out side edge on my small container and let the water wick in to the center. Next day put my seed in the middle about a pencil eraser depth. REMEMBER marijuana is A HIGH altitude desert plant, its better in my opinion to go little water over a lot of water any day. Books are Freaking Awesome. - Good Growing -

I have been growing in Ffof for years now. I have actually on a few grows only used Big Bloom all the way through veg never once having to add any Big grow.. why? because the plants did not ask for it, and they turned out beautiful if you want to push them.. I would still not add any nutes to the ocean forest for at least a few weeks and that's a few weeks of growth not from seed

So I went to the local hydro shop a couple weeks ago, and was looking at Foxfarms soils. I was trying to deciede what soil to buy. Ocean Forest, Orginal Planting Mix, Happy Frog, or Light Warrior.

First off, does anyone know if any of these soils are better then the others for Cannabis?

Second, the guy at the store told me Ocean Forest has to many nutrients in it, and could burn plants when they are seedlings. Anyone start there seeds off in ocean forest? Any nute burns?

Thanks alot guys <3
I just wanna say, I was looking around for what apparently was an amazing soil to start growing cannabis. Stumbled upon Fox Farm ocean forest. In the very beginning it was growing beautifully about 4 weeks and it was so nitrogen toxic.....
I flush the soil get it pHd right, all that mess, it seemed it was doing much better at the beginning of flowering I started having multiple nutrient lockout ( I was not using nutrients at all, just purified Phd water, I use AN ph down) turns out it is a phosphorus toxicity and with my luck phosphorus is about the most impossible thing to remove from soil... Fox Farm ocean Forest has been nothing but a pain in my f****** ass and I will never buy it again. On top of that the pH as soon as I receive the bag was 5 to 5.5..... I call it, the death soil.

You must have did something wrong. I have 12 seedling in fox farm OF and they are doing great. Maybe your water? You might have over watered as you said you flushed it...You don't just get lockout she all of the sudden.

Seedlings did great, then out of nowhere about 4 weeks in it got nitrogen toxic. I flushed the soil and it fixed it. My plant beGan to flower and I was getting calcium deficiency, iron and zinc deficiency... I did a NPK test on my soil and nitrogen was low but there, same with potassium, but the phosphorus was 3 shades darker than the highest read level on my test. It takes a few weeks for phosphorus toxicity to show its nasty face. Word to the wise, be careful. My bags came 5.0 to 5.5 ph as well.
