It depends on the op. In dirt it's a method of removing excess salts from the soil. It is a term that is also used in the curing process.

Basically its stop watering your plant with nutrients and use just regular water. Soil its last 2 weeks. Hydro last week.

hey,,
flush, or the flush as everyone says is where nutrients are replaced with just water for the last period of a grow until harvest. in soil it is usally done after an intal leach of the soil for the last 14-10days and in a hydro system the nute solution is replaced with just water. as a hydro crop takes less time to mature and less time to grow the period can be alot shorter. 5 days minium I have been told by some people.(one from my hydro store)
when salts build up in the soil(eventually causing nute lockup) some people refer to leaching the soil as 'flushing' because it is more an actual flush of the soil, 3 times the water to amount of soil, so 1 gallon of soil, 3 gallons of water , some would say to then straight after add a dilute nutes with water to insure there is some food for the plant. I personally wait maybe 12 hours before adding a 1/2 strenght solution to the soil just to help the soil dry,. I just worry about the fragile roots rotting with all that moisture..anyhow.
hope that helps..
take it easy..
