I've been trying to keep the XGS between 18 to 20 inches to keep the intensity up but I think the corners of my 3'x3' tent were lacking a little so I fixed that with the good old Cree bulbs. This is day 17 for this critical kush and I thinks she's gonna be a beast.CK day 16 001.JPG

Nice! When I tried that with CFLs I ruined my grow because the temps shot way up, cooked my res and killed my roots!

good to see you back captain, hope your health gets better. good to see your still kicking ass on your grows. nice pics
Thank you for your kind words,it's a bitter pill to swallow having your health change. At 50 I was in better shape than most in their 20's and most people thought I was 40 at tops and never had anything more serious than the flu. Now at 55 I feel like I aged twenty years.Oh well,at least I'm still here.

I hear you! 52 and I just can't spend as much time in the garden on my knees as I could before. Taking me forever to get projects done any more. I need to hire a young assistant :)

i'm 53 and now have high blood pressure, my thyroid doesn't work anymore, i have to take acid reflux meds, and on top of that i need a knee replacement. i am trying to get some weight off of me so that maybe i can get off of the blood pressure meds and try to keep from the knee problem, atleast i have my grandson to work out with. i'm real surprized at the ages of people here growing, we had a thread on age and most that posted were older then myself. take care of yourself and i look forward to seeing more post. peace

We lived through the '60s and '70s. It was a crazy and happy time. Think about how different the '80s and '90s were! Tipper Gore trying to make music illegal!
Ah the seventies,I use to sell a little product to keep myself supplied for free. If I remember right acapolco gold and panama red use to go for like $25 or $30 a oz and don't forget the thai sticks and magic mushrooms.

How many fingers do you want?! hehe

So Cal - Lumbo Gold, Thai, Kona...Elephant! Then there was hash and honey oil.
Moved to CO and took me 6 months to find a good connection. As good if not better than the So Cal stuff.
Then we moved to NC. Took me a year to find the Smoky Mountain Chronic! I was such a lightweight by then I couldn't talk after a session.
Moved back to So Cal in 1980 and started enjoying the Humboldt and Fallbrook products and then we all started growing our own and sharing.

I cut way back when we decided to have kids. A few sessions here and there on holidays with the Oregon and Humboldt relatives :)

3 years ago I got my prescription and hated what they had to offer at the dispensaries (all smelled the same). I asked a neighbor about seeds and a few weeks later he drops 4 in my hand - said it was called MrGoo. Threw them in a vegetable growing mix in a tub and two of them grew. Left one of them in the tub and the other I xplanted to a half wine barrel. All I did was water. It was great - except for the 100s of budworms!

The one in the barrel almost died and then took off!

I'm turning 35, and that sounds like waaaaay more appealing than this fucking facebook/iphone generation ........and I have to wear a condom nowadays, sucks! lol

30 dollar ounces, yeah try like $80 an EIGHT for primo-"exotic" shit now........no wonder the preppy boy ring just got popped around here(heard it made national news today,crazy)..... making a killing.

And another thing those ^^^dirt cheap used byproducts of the wine/whisky/bourbon barrels cost a fortune now thanks to the microbrews buying them up. douchebags

rant over

I got mine at HomeDepot for 15 bucks each! Had a Jack Daniels stamp on the bottom and still smelled like Whiskey! It was one of those chance sightings on a weekly visit to HD. Two weeks later they were all gone. :)

Recently, like last spring??? because I would make a trip to HD for a chance at them.

3 years ago. I have not really looked since. Ask your HD - maybe they can get you some. They are a pain when the wood dries because the metal rings fall off. You must bang them back in place or screw them to the wood.

I did pick up some wine barrels last year with a gift certificate to a nursery I got. It was a froofy nursery so they didn't have anything modern (LEDs, SmartPots, Hydrolyzed Fish...). So I spent $200 on 3 half wine barrels and a white peach tree (Babcock).

After more research I'm now not as hopeful for the Philips Slim style, this is a good video tear down of it here,
It is noted at 1:30 it has a fair amount of flicker, more than the Cree's. Flicker has got to be something to avoid for growing huh?

Tear down of the Cree
It has less flicker.
Cree also has a 100w equivalent bulb now too! http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cree-100W-Equivalent-Soft-White-2700K-A21-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-BA21-16027OMF-12DE26-1U100/205054835

I'm back to focusing on flood LEDs however, for their directional light beam. Home Depot has the Philips BR30 for $16 now.

13 watts used, 65w equivalent, 2700K, minimal flicker. Thinking of getting 4 or 5 to make a 260-325 watt equivalent flowering panel for 2 plants.
