Flowering with CFL's????

As long as there getting around 100watts per plant they should be good. But you need different spectrums of light for flower which cfls dont give

The only thing with cfl is fire danger and it takes longer to veg and flower otherwise i love em. Also a 6500K cfl if you have enough of them will give you the tightest node spacing out of any light source mh is like 4000k ive grown with both and cfl always wins hands down.
I agree with everything you said but the fire hazard part. In December it will be 4 years with CFLs for me and I use the 1400 watt (output) and 2000 watt units from CFL-GrowLight.com. Currently I've got over 10,000 watts going all in CFL's... I've never even remotely had a fire hazard. but I've witnessed firsthand HPS bulb blowing up right after a power outage where the electricity came right back on after about 30 seconds. It might be the bulbs people use too. There are some bad CFL bad manufactures and some had fire challenges a few years ago, but to my understanding, those are off the market now.

What's the approximate cost for a HPS light to be used for one plant when it begins to flower? I am considering transitioning from CFL during vegetation to HPS for flowering. Or should I just go with the 2700k CFL's for flowering?

Id say go for all CFL. Get that experience in, maybe a second grow with them. And THEN go bigger with professional style lighting.

Im determined myself to finish this out CFL. I'm 4 weeks into Veg. Gonna go about 12" Tall. Already topped once. And the nodes are nice and tight. Have about 100 watts per plant, with my domes pretty much covering four sides. Small bushy plant.
