Just a guy trying to spread his knowledge and learn some more.
I personally would not try to grow without a TDS pen and a way to measure my PH. I have used Ionic nutes for years and can measure them pretty accurately without a TDS meter. I still use it however because I keep grow logs of every strain and every grow I do. This has allowed me to see which strains are nutrient sensitive and go back and grow them again without any guess work if I want. It also allows me to grow in different places with different water sources. I can also fine tune my grows so that I get maximum yield rather than varied results each time.
A cheap set up will get you cheap results, don't skimp on the basics. And with that hello mr Haze
