never in my life have i ever even attempted to grow a plant (including fungi). and here i find myself starting out. my basic setup are as listed. doing it indoors btw

1. Grow tent : 5 x 5 gorilla tent
2. Grow light : 800w 7 spectrum LED grow light (got it off AliExpress) - details, mmmm :dunce:
3. Soil : MiracleGrow potting mix
4. Fertilizer : very diluted Miracid from MiracleGrow
5. Inline fan : otw
6. Using a normal Table fan to help with air circulation in the grow tent
7. Seeds : 1 jack black, 1 strawberry blue , 3 royal queen critical (all freebies from herbies)

pictures posted are 1 and a half weeks post germinating, except strawberry blue which came in a little late at 4 days post germination. (end 2/3/2014)

a few questions if i may:
1. the stems of the indica plants are pretty weak, any idea why? leaves are all nice and green. stems are pretty long though.
2. i placed the led light about 2 feet away from the plants. any thought on the matter?
3. where i'm from, we dont have any fancy soils (as u can see miraclegrow is the most fancy :wall:), so i'm lost on fertilizer options.
4. any comments are welcomed. ( suggestions, pointing out any mistakes i'm doing, etc etc are most welcomed)

Miracle grow will work. The soil is already hot so go easy on the ferts. Then only 25% of recommended. 18-24" sounds about right on the light. It's still young, so stems shouldnt be a factor after just a couple of weeks. Probably still busy building roots. Let the soil dry out good between watering and don't overfeed. Relax. Keep everything ventilated and temps under 85, humidity reasonable. Well. Just be patient. Don't love it to death. BTW your pics didn't work for me. Good luck.

They do look a little stretchy, but you're alright bro. Maybe when the get a little taller add soil up to just below the cotyledons. Meanwhile, they look ok. I don't like hot soil, because you have no control over the nute release, which at this stage the plant hasn't really even needed. I would say, just relax, wait on it to dry out before watering again. Then no nutes at all until you feel the NUTES in the soil have been dissolved and used up. Maybe a month or more. Meanwhile, if you feel you must water. A tablespoon in the center of the pot probably won't hurt it. Learn to tilt your pots and what light weight feels like so you can let them dry out pretty good between feedings. Or you could cut a wooden dowel and push it down the edge of the side of the pot, and when you pull it out the stick will be damp if there is moisture. Most of all. Just relax. Don't over do it.

Leave the wooden dowel in there all the time and check it when you need to.

Thanks man. I'll be sure to not overwater them. Been reading a lot of books on growth and got kinda confused. Thanks again on the input. Will def try out your suggestions and will post up the results in a week's time.

Careful careful. Don't do too much too soon. Give it some time to recover. Those are still babies right now and trying to develop a good root system. Plant growth may be slow for a sec til the roots fill the pot and then the plant will go zoom zoom. I wish you the best of luck, but most mistakes are made by the grower getting a bit anxious and overdoing it. At the end of the day it's just weed. Give it only what it needs and it will take care of the rest naturally. Like its genetics tell it to do. Every time you water in new MG soil, the little chunks of Ferts in your MG will dissolve a bit and release into the soil. Too much ferts, especially at this young stage could poison your plants environment. I would probably give them a month before I even thought about adding any other ferts. Maybe more just depends. And you have different strains which could react differently to the ferts.

Anyway, I got faith in ya. I've done MG a few times. It will work fine. Some strains may love it. Some strains may be sensitive. Just be patient and try to get some of these plants through to the end and you will be happy happy. If you lose one or something, don't go all mad house and panic. RELAX!

Your set up(tent, light, etc) sounds pretty sweet BTW.

Edit. You need some kinda small fan giving those seedlings a little breeze. Nothing fancy at this point. Just a Wally World special should be fine.

Been busy. So had enough time to snap a picture just to update.
A few were made:
1. I added in a 900w Mars Hydro 2 LED light.
2. Started 6 more strains ( MEd GOM 1.0 x 3, Sin city treasure island x 3) - the first picture
3. For the CBD strains I'm using strictly Rock Nutreints only.
4. For my first grow I'm using Miracid (full strength) with Rock Nutrient Supercharge ( full dose )
5. Got my vortex up and running

Pictures taken on 16/3/2015 - Today . LoL

Strawberry Blue at 3 weeks and 3 days veg.
I'm pretty sure the tips are burnt. But I'm giving it the same feed as the other plants and they don't have the same problems. And also I topped this plant but it still grows up with only 1 stem. Pretty weird. :dunce:
