First Time Trying DWC

Doesnt need to be exact. Those plants will be fine. Only 2 hours once.
Thanks, yeah it hasn't seemed to mess with her at all. She is really taking off, kind of getting a little out of control. I am wishing I would have trained her in the beginning but I was just wanting to let her go and see how well she did since it was my first time with DWC. I have to say I think I am sold on this method, I am sure she could be doing better if I was a little more exact with my growing techniques, but sometimes life gets crazy and I like knowing when it gets crazy she is still kicking ass without 100% supervision.
I appreciate everyone's comments and encouragement.

Don't beat yourself up I am growing a "Dj's Gold" and it is a around a 50/50 Sativa Indica iirc, that lady exploded in growth after the flip as I expected, but the rat at which it is growing I had to bend a few tops over, now I likely screwed my yields on those particular tops but the plant is so huge it will make it up in other areas. Next run I will train as per the West Coast Masters :)

Pyke, I'm growing two plants in a DWCUC similar to you. I also am using the General Hydro nutes. I think thats what you said you were using. Can i ask you what your feeding regime is? I think I am using too much, my plats look similar to yours so I know whatever your doing on nutes is correct your plants look great.

Here is my schedule - every 14 days i change my nutes.
12:35 PM - Water Change
- Cal Mag 40ml - 400 EC
- Micro 80ml - 600 EC
- Gro 80ml - 500 EC
- Bloom 40ml - 500 EC
- Floralicious 10ml - N/A
- Nectar 40ml - N/A

dwc has to be the easiest and most effective method for growing.

I put a half foot tall plant with only a few nodes into the water about a month ago with one feed and left it until it drank the entire 20 gallon reservoir at 500ppm. There was also a day long power cut recently which didn't effect the plant.

It only took a month and now it's grown into a 3 foot tall, 4 foot wide bush without any fresh water, additional nutrients, supplements or training. The water is the color of tea though, not recommended.

Don't speak to soon about how easy dwc is. You still have to make it through flower. Veg is easy in all systems, it's flower where you run into problems. Awesome things are going good so far.

Thanks,
I am just going by the side of the box that the nutes came in. I figured I would just use what they recommended for my first try and I will adjust from there.
I change the water every Sunday and usually top her off 1 time during the week. I actually did not flush last week and I am seeing some issues with my leaves not looking as happy as they did last week. We will see how she does, I am changing the reservoir tonight.

I hope I wasn't getting to cocky, I checked on her last night and some of the leaves are not fanning out all the way. I think I have gotten a little too comfortable and have not been using good growing techniques. So far veg was way easier than soil for me, let's hope that I can keep a handle on her during flower.

DWC is definitely not the easiest system.

Its prone to more issues with power outages. A day or two without an air pump and your roots are fucked.

Its prone to root issues due to warm water.

And bubble buckets are finicky AF. I have bitches in flower right now emptying the res in less than 3 days. The pH swings are insane. Think about it. There is 3gallons of buffer per plant.

Id say bubble buckets is one of the harder forms of hydro.

I have to agree on the ph swings. I can dial it right in and check it the next day and it's way too high. I have been enjoying dwc a lot more than soil for some reason, but let's see if I can get her through the flower stage before I get to comfortable

A little update. I changed the water out yesterday. She is drinking about 3/4 a gallon a day it seems. Hard to keep up with her demands :bigjoint:
Anyway I think she is doing great. I added an ONA gel into the tent and you can't smell a thing. I had used the cheap ones from Home Depot and they just did not cut the mustard like the ONA Gel. Stuff kicks ass.

My buds are not huge like other peoples but they are coming along. I have to admit that I haven't been as attentive as some and if I was I imagine my yield would be better, but I am happy where were headed.

So we had a bit of a dilemma, a family friend decided he was going to pop in for 2 weeks and live with us. He is a great friend but a prude to say the least. So I was about 1 week away from being 100% complete and my house was a little stinky. I just couldn't get it to vent properly even venting outside. So needless to say I figured it was time for the big chop. the trichomes were mostly cloudy with a few that were still clear. I would have liked to keep her going another week but I didn't feel comfortable doing so, in the last week she really put on some weight and the branches were drooping really low. Next time I will for sure build a screen to help with the weight. For my first DWC grow I am pretty pleased with the turnout. I know I did not get as much as some folks but I am just growing as a hobby and to get some of my own buds for personnel use so it is not that big of a deal.

Let me just say I really underestimated the trim time, thank god my wife was willing to help or I would have been up all night long.:-) It was late when I finished so I did not get a chance to weigh my bounty, but I did get her hung up to dry and will begin the cure process and will get a weight as soon as they are dried.

I was able to toss a bud in the oven and dry it out a little at about 160 degrees just so I could see if I was going to be disappointed in the early chop, I was not let down at all, I was in a bad mood before and after a quick smoke she had my worries washed away and had a big cheese dick grin on my face :D So I think we are going to be okay.

I want to thank everyone who stopped in to comment and give advice, I really appreciate it. I am a new fish in this pond and I hope here in a few months when I start another grow that I can help someone like you have all helped me.

Take care and enjoy...

So I have them in jars curing. I weighed my small bounty and came out with 2.16 oz. Nothing crazy but I think next time I can definitely beat that. I think my 2 main problems were I had to cut her down a few days too early and also if I were to add 1 more led light I am pretty certain I can beat that. But until then I am going to enjoy my new smoke and prepare supplies for the next grow.

Thanks to anyone who commented and followed me on this little journey, I appreciate your help and comments.

If you had let them finish you would've yielded a lot more. Looks more like a couple weeks left than a few days. Glad you made it through your dwc run.
