I have grown outdoors by the swamps of Louisiana for years. This is my first time indoor auto. I built this room from info found here. Have a 400 watt metal halide in a 3'x4' room. I have my lights set for 20/4 an water set at 15 min 3 times a day. These plants are in a 1 gallon pot at the moment but im gonna go to 5 gallon next time. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

15 minutes 3 times a day for each plant seems excessive. I hope you at least drilled bottom holes in those buckets. The thing with auto-waterers is that you can't add nutes using that system as the nutes will clog up the pump. Since you'll be adding nutes with water and adding it that way (watering can), why not just ditch the auto-waterer? Or, at least use it only for non feeding days. It would seem to me to be less hectic (timing the water pump and all) if you just watered manually.

Water Set and forget with nutes added is not a bad idea in theory. I'm working on it (in my mind).
How do you keep the uptake pump not getting clogged up with your added nutrients and how to add them conveniently?

For small grows, someone will come up with such a system as I envision. Just give it time.

Thx I had holes drilled but was still to much water. I was not happy with the size of them so I started more in the 5 gallon buckets. Im on day 22 20/4 hours of light with Metal halide 400 watt is this normal height for auto? Two of them are 8 inched tall and one in 5 inches. I also have a 180 watt Led light bar. Would that help if I use it or hurt it?
