First time grow

Live in a legal state and decided to try and grow my own.

Doin this in a carpeted closet so I decided on coco coir cut with some perlite. Thinkin like a 60/40 ratio. Got the gh trio as well and going to pick up some ro water tomorrow. I do have the ppm tester and ph tester plus adjuster.

Anyways I'm running a 600w hps or mh dimmable system. Planning on having at leas 3-4 plants going which hopefully should be by Saturday as I'm having a few a 4-5 weeks old in veg being gifted.

So for perspective this closet is two feet wide by 7 feet long and is 8 feet in height up to the shelf. Tomorrow I'm going to have all the necessary areas lined in 95% reflective poly.

I'm going to try and keep this pretty updated with info and soon pictures.

best of luck sounds like you have a good setup but you didn't mention your ventilation. are you gonna send that stale hot air anywhere? or leave your closet door open or something?

I'm going to pick up some fans tomorrow to blow air onto the plants. As for ventilation I'm probably going to have to pick some ducting and maybe get a fan and filter set up.

I figured I could wait a week since they won t be that big yet. But I will try and get some ventilation going today.

Bit of an update here... Still more work to finish up the setup.

Anyways I had to go soil, as I might be doing an out of town job near the end of Jan. which is nice for money but not so nice in that I don't know anyone who could watch my plants. So I went soil so when I do have to leave for an extended period it's stupid easy for someone to take care of them.

I do got some pictures of the Ladies. Their names are the lovely Napalm, AvGas, and Bitch Please. A little history behind the plants and the names. So I got these 3 plants from a grower I work with and he got them from a guy we're going to call diesel Dan. Diesel Dan as you would guess loves diesel strains and ended up breeding a few of his ladies but somewhere he forgot which was bred from what. So Napalm and AvGas are mystery #3 diesels but we decided to give them more individualized names. Bitch Please is Death Star x Hong Kong and named by my brother who doesn't smoke or anything but is paying half the electric bill so Bitch Please it is.

Right now I got the girls under a 600watt mh light and going to run them 20/4 as that's what they had before I adopted them. They are all in 5 gallon fabric pots. The soil is ~70% Happy Frog, 25% coco, 5% Black Gold Perlite.

Still going to be doing more work on ventilation and such today to get everything more finalized but right now the plants don't seem to mind.

Finally got a little time to myself and get to post an update. Been a busy week but I did get a little accomplished with slowly upgrading and polishing my setup.

New goodies:
Used RhinoPro Filter seems like it's 6" opening and like 2'6'' tall. (Scored this for $10)
Got just a desk fan, shit is blowing hurricanes though and already wind burned like 5 leaves the other day. Have this guy on the 2nd lowest sitting like 3 feet away and blowing up against the wall now to help circulate air and just lightly shake the plant.
Grabbed some Dyna-Gro protekt and used that yesterday.
Also grabbed some Cal-Mag just in case.

Gave the plants a haircut last night and watered them. Gave them ~550ppm of nutes including the 140ppm from my water (tap water just let out to de-chlorinate). Plants seem to like it, I figure though they still got plenty of nutes left in that soil so I'm mainly just doing very light nutes, until they seem underfed.

Issues through out the week:
Springtails - dried those guys out back on wednesday
Windburn - fan was blowing pretty hard for ~12 hours or so and dried up a few leaves on the plants, trimmed the bad leaves off and kept the healthier ones on.
Temperatures- 600w with a metal halide and that closet gets cookin. It's snowing outside, my thermostat is set to like 64, and I have to leave the window cracked 2-3 inches in my room in order to keep this closest below 90 degrees. I've since just ran it at 75% power as that alone takes it down 4 degrees.

Things I want to get soon:
Want to get a nice little small fan instead of my current Katrina fan.
Another inline fan to help circulate air out especially during sleep time.

I'm thinking I'm going to put these (hopefully) ladies in flower next week. Two of them AvGas and Napalm (the mystery #3 diesels) are both showing good strong internodes while Bitch Please (deathstar x hong kong) isn't quite as caught up yet. I'm not cloning any of these as I'm unsure of sex and have nothing to take care of clones.

They look good. How long have they been growing? .....from seed right? Just wondering how long it took for them to get that size from seed. I have some OG KUSH babies I'm growing from seed and afer 3-4 weeks they are about 6-8 inche's long. Being patient is hard when ur first growing. Lol

I think they're like ~5 weeks old, and yeah the wait is the hardest part.

I'll go ahead and follow yours as well. It has been a cool little hobby so far but pretty expensive. At least the plants grow slow enough that you can spread out the costs over a few weeks.

That all being said no matter how shitty or great this bud might turn out , it's still going to be exciting smoking something you grew.

Very true bout the cost. I intend to buy a 400 watt for $80 for flowering but later of course. I'll post up some photos on my profile as well. Share my set up. Hope all goes well with our grows. Cheers!

Soo this week I've got them all transitioned to flowering. As of 6:45pm to 6:45am they will have their first 12 hours under the hps bulb. Been working on the set up a little more. I've ditched my desk fan for now as it seems to be doing more harm than good. Work has been slow due to weather so that means it might be a little longer till I can get some extra toys.

Plants are doing pretty well for the most part. AvGas is probably the best looking of the bunch with tight internodes, naturally bushy, thick stems, etc.

Bitch Please is a whiny plant though. Every watering the leaves drop like I'm drowning but like 2-3 hours later is perky as can be.

Been slowing upping up the nutes. This last watering I used the actual recommended amount and I'm going to drop it back a bit and slowly move towards using the flowering set up.

Lookin pretty good. I read you'll be seen budding around week 2. Keep postin. I updated my grow. They are starting to grow really well. I expect a few more weeks of veging. Pretty excited for you. Lol

Plants are under 12/12 now and looking pretty good. All 3 are female (yes I did a happy dance).

Plants had 1 day on Jan. 2nd under 12/12 with the metal halide and the rest have been under the hps.

Have to dial down the power right now between 300-450 watts with it mainly just staying at 300 as I keep running into ventilation/heating issues otherwise. Working on solving that soon but still 100- 150 watts per plant still isn't that bad at all.



Starting left to right is Avgas, Then bitch Please, and lastly Napalm in order of the thumbnails.

Napalm is a brother to Avgas (both mystery diesel lineage). But as you can see they aren't much a like. Napalm was the first to show pre-flowers and AvGas was the last. Currently Bitch Please is stretching like a Yoga Guru but hopefully that slows down a bit.

Small chance (5% is what my pessimistic ass guesses) that I might be gifted another plant soon, if it does happen I'll be sure to let you all know.

Pretty soon here though I'll be able to show you all some pretty flowering pictures and the end some bud porn.

Nice goin. All female! Great news. I'm crossing my fingers both mine are lady's as well. I decided to attempt a scrog setup.
I'm gonna be a lil more patient and top and bush it out before flowering. What kinda of nutes are u using?

Using General Hydroponics trio (micro, gro, bloom) a little cal-mag (seriously have used this shit twice), and some dynagro Protekt.

Your set up looks so clean compared to mine. Seriously mine is like a closet with 3 pots and a light LOL. The outside is covered with some panda shit so it's pretty damn light proof but still I feel like I'm so far away from all my growing friends.

Anyways I've seen some pretty cool shit. Like they guys I got the plants from they have yet another mystery diesel number 2 and AvGas looks similar but you can really see how different they grow under the mh bulb vs a t5. Theirs was a good 4-5" taller in veg but had the exact same amount of internodes.

I'm buzzin pretty good right now on some beer (on a t-break, not like it would've changed anything LOL) so hopefully that all makes sense.

Just the one time. I don't have anything set up for clones as of yet, but hopefully in a few weeks that will change so I can get the next run for indoor (and maybe outdoor) started.
