So, after a month, I have not received a usable mini cool cab. I paid promptly and have had nothing but trouble. Anticipating that I was not going to get any sort of resolution, I went and grabbed a Secret Jardin DR150W grow tent, which I intended to put in my closet, but quickly realized it wouldn't fit (closet is like 2.5'x4' and the tent is like 4'11" wide, doh!). After I assembled it, I tried to move it into a spare room and broke one of the elbow joints in the meantime. I'm going to have to look around for a new one, but I tried to rig up something to hold it. It worked right up until I put the weight of my floro on there.
The reason I put the floro up is to give my plant a little break from the HID, since I transplanted last night to a 5 gal pot. I also have tried taking a few clones and I moved the only seed that I've successfully popped so far (a white widow) from the dome into perlite. I decided to go with perlite for a little while to keep my options open in case the guys who I paid for the cab manage to come through (not holding my breath). Here's a before transplant pic and a few after pics. It's been a while, I was out of town, but the grow has been going well! I decided for safety that I was going to flush my FFOF before transplanting, to keep the nutrients from scorching her or getting lockout again. I'm probably a week from flower, so I wanted to make sure I had enough space for roots. Transplanting was a messy messy job for me, since I filled the destination pot with too much soil. In order to make sure that I didn't have issues with drainage in a pot that big, I added some extra perlite to the soil, which the guys at the hydro store were nice enough to give me, since I only needed a small amount. I still haven't decided against hydro, I just want to make sure I can root a clone and keep her in veg as long as it takes to make sure that I can flower successfully. I want to make sure I have everything I need and the plant is as healthy as possible.
In order to control the heat as much as possible, I bought magnetic vent covers from home depot, which I stuck over all the AC registers around the house except in that room. They are not a perfect seal, but they keep a lot more air in than my attempts to close the vents. That keeps the heat in the room under control.
I added FF grow big and big bloom, too a couple days ago, but now that I'm in new soil, I'm going to wait to use more for a bit (though I flushed quite a bit, so I might need to add more sooner, any opinions?)
I also added thrive alive (1/2 tsp) to the water in the last couple containers of water I flushed, and when I was prepping the soil in the destination pot (I added too much soil and had to dig some out to make room), I put the bottom of the root ball in a 1/2 tsp solution as well.
