Whats up everyone,

I'm going to be starting my first grow and I'm going to be taking a big bite. 10x10 tent with 4 1000w HPS. 16 DWC stand-alone buckets, scrogged. I'm going to need guidance. I will also attempt to document the process.

Here is my shopping cart from growershouse thus far:

4x Solis Tek 1000w
4x Radiant 6 inch
4x Hortilux super 1000w HPS

Weak, I know. Reason I started this thread so early is because im stuck on ducting. For a 10x10 would I need to go bigger than 6 inch? 8 or 10 inch maybe? Thats my first question. Hoods will be air cooled with ducts running outside of the tent on either side, 2 at a time.

Still need to purchase:

Tent
Filter(s)
Exhaust(s)
Intake(s)
Ductings
Timers
De/humidifier(s)
PowerGrow DWC kit
Nutrients
Fans
In-line fans
Scrog net (diy)
Fan speed adjuster
Ph up/down
TDS meter
PH meter
Lux Meter
Temp/humidity display
Hydroton

Am I leaving anything out?

If you scrog your bucket need to have a controller bucket. Once you start weaving the mesh, you won't be able to lift top of bucket for nute change. Also those premade dwc buckets run quite a bit. A dwc system is super easy to build. just get black buckets lids with built in 8" net pots. airline air pump airstones.

Agreed. A central res and top feed or RWDC. Even then if one goes tits up in the middle of that it is going to be a bitch to get out. Impossible to do res changes with a SCROG over 10 DWC.

Buddy - 16 individual DWC will be a helluva bitch to take care of. That's all I have to say on that.
Fuck you're right. We're talking about emptying out and cleaning the bucket every couple weeks right? Should i do 9 instead?

Shit i forgot about that. Thank you!

I looked into DIY and was initially going to craft my own. But i found this http://www.amazon.com/Culture-Hydroponic-Bubbler-PowerGrow-Systems/dp/B00J148VJS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

400 out the door. 25 bucks per bucket sounds about home-made cost, right?

There you go. You could make it cheaper yourself. After spending weeks looking, driving around, wasting grow time. That looks like a good setup.

The ones with a central res cost nearly 1000 or more. Is there an improvised way to do it without a res? I was thinking of 4 buckets under a 4x4 screen. Would it work if i made each bucket have its own screen attached to the lid?

Does "there you go" mean the buckets i found is a solution to the res change issue?

Good deal. You will still need to connect them. You can use the hole where level tube is but it's a lil small.2 inch bulkhead fittings connected with piping all going to a controller bucket. look it up on google there are a lot of resources on diy hydro systems.

Will definitely check it out. I was planning on using some sort of pump to pull out all the water from the bucket, then reverse the process to pump in the new solution. Only thing i cant do is clean the bucket, if in fact the scrog will be an issue to open the lid.

Look up RIU member Orbo. He just designed and made a self-scrog bucket. He posted pics of it too.

I agree with Igottthe6 & hhh use something with a separate rez/control bucket. Even without scrog screens I think tending 16 individual buckets everyday checking the ph, ppm, water levels, water temps, rez changes and so on is gonna be a pain in the ass. It's a lot to keep track of especially for a first attempt. When shit goes wrong in hydro/dwc it happens fast. If you don't catch it early you could lose the whole crop. I don't wanna discourage you. just think about the details first think it threw before buying the equipment cuz it ain't cheap.

No, I appreciate the advice. Not getting discouraged, you guys are right. I'm looking into the res as we speak, reading DIY's and other solutions.
