No your plant needs those to produce carbs from photosynthesis.

Only time I remove fan leaves, and this is controversial, is if they're covering bud sites and thats in flower. I'm going to do a side by side someday on same clone.

Hey wassup guys, this is an update. it is now 3 weeks and 2 days old! super big plants now about 4 ft tall and super wide. The roots are amazing covering the whole 5 gallon bucket and making its own bed at the botton. it so big that is about to over grow my 4 by 8 room.

i'm loving all the canna nutrients and canna additives!

I grew 2 White Widow X BigBud plants a while back. Heres some notes from my grow in case you were interested (you are growing a Big Bud cross as well)

Home made DWC bucket (15 gallon rez filled with about 8 gallons of water.)
I kept the ph at 5.5-6.0. They didnt like high PPM...mine was 500 max and more like 400 most of the way.
They exploded at the switch and ended up about 4 ft tall.
I used a 400W MH for 27 days of veg and then a 400w HPS for 63 days of flower.
I did no topping or training during veg and pruned leaves here and there throughout the grow to open up the canopy.
I added Superthrive periodically and some H202 daily.
The only nutrients I used was GH Floranova Bloom (lucas formula throughout entire grow).
The temps during the day were around 85 and at night around 68.
My rez temps were no higher than 75.
The root system was very impressive with alot of it resembling "rope" pretty thick rope too (this was my FIRST dwc so maybe thats normal).
My colas got pretty fat and overall the buds were very dense.
I gave her a 48 hour dark period (not by choice but because I got lazy and didnt feel like chopping when I was gonna)

In the end I finished up with 10 zips dry total (from both plants). I'm not a professional grower by any means and I've made many mistakes but 10oz from 2 plants isnt to shabby. So you dont have to do everything PERFECTLY to get decent results. I'm proof of that. Good Luck...

just a little update. 2 plants were males and 2 plants were female. I cut down the male plants. i only vegged for 4 weeks and flowered 8. Came out to a total of 15oz of dried good bud and a little over of 1oz of dried shaggy stuff. I think this is pretty good for my frist try with dwc. Next i'm moving to a RDWC set up that i'm going to build myself. I'm going to keep yall updated with that grow. Didn't do keep it updated enought with this grow.

Canna and H&G are almost the same. Two partners split because of differences and now WE are given TWO excellent nutrient brands. I have friends using both and in my opinion, Canna performs best. To each his own though! Glad I found your thread, very good arguments over final harvest weight! Subb'd for sure! Stay medicated!
