This is going to be my first soil grow, need some tips on soil mix. I was wondering what you guys suggest as a good organic pre-packaged soil mix.

I heard Fox Farm Ocean forest is good when mixed with light warrior. However I have a couple questions. Do I have to mix it with light warrior to get decent results? Also, if I do, what is a good ratio.

Any other suggestion on soil are welcome. I am probably going to be using the Bio Biz line of nutrients.

All the prepackaged peat based mixes are good. I prefer the Promix. Word of caution.....get yourself some dolomite or garden lime...and mix in 1tbps of lime per gal of medium before planting. This will save you alot od hassles later.

Do not get hydrated lime unless you really know what you're doing. Hydrated lime is fast acting and very strong.

Drink!

Thanks for the info, wondering if anyone else has a favorite type of pre packaged mix, and if they have grown with it recently.

You should always listen to your father, he knows best!!!! I agree father jack, I can tell you've been there , done that. Rich potting soil is too much for those tender little babes feet. I ALWAYS use Pro Mix with a tiny bit of DOLOMITE lime. You could use 5% potting soil in the mix but NO fertilizer will be needed til after transplant to big containers. Even then if you make the right soil mix you shouldn't need to fertilize at all . TOO MUCH LOVE CAN KILL YOUR PLANTS. love them less they'll love you more.
