First Run: ISO Hash Oil (Pictures)

This is my first attempt at making concentrates.
I went with the ISO method.

Used 1/2 Oz of Low Grade Headys. It was real dry and kiefy.


1) I put the herb through a coffee grinder (it was real dry so it broke up completely which I wasn't really trying to do)
-It did get me a lot of kief though to put through the run.

2) Let it sit in a jar wrapped in Aluminum Foil in the back of the Freezer for about 2 hours.

3) Let the 91% Isopropyl Alcohol sit in the freezer for about 30 min.

4) I poured just enough Iso Alcohol in the jar to cover the weed.

5) I twirled the jar around, agitating the herb lightly for about 2-3 minutes until there was a thin layer of cloudy yellow liquid on top of the herb.

6) Quickly filtered out the herb through a white coffee filter into the first 2L.

7) Took that liquid that was left and put it through a fresh coffee filter and into the Pyrex Dish.

8) While I was doing all of that I had a larger Pyrex dish in the oven filled with water at 190 degrees F

9) I placed the smaller pyrex dish with the concentrate in the larger dish filled with water and let it cool in the garage for about 2 hours.

10) I attempted to collect the oil after 2 hours. It was real sappy and dark almost black brown/green.

11) Replaced the water in the larger Pyrex dish with boiling water at 185 degrees F and took a blow dryer to the pyrex for about 5 minutes.

12) After another hour and a half after everything left in the dish was completely evaporated and bone dry I began to scrape the yellow/gold concentrated from the Pyrex.

At this point I have two different qualities of hash. The dark solid ball that froze to almost glass like quality and the gold stuff that chipped off into small pieces and looks almost like glass or crystal.

Filtered Twice. Dried after 3 hours. Scrape Session Final Product. The yellow crystal stuff was pressed into these two chunks


Used 1/2 Ounce of Low Grade Heady. Nice smells when broken up. Really Dry.
Got exactly 1.0 gram total. Two different qualities of hash.

I used hardly any Iso, the bottle I bought is just passed the neck empty.
Only did one run.

Next run I am going to use 2 ounces of Sour D shake.
99% Iso if I can find it.
Non-bleach coffee filters.
Use a little more iso


Any feedback? How does the quality look?

I went crazy for a few weeks and made like 5 batches a day and with my trial and error i found that i only shake it for 30 seconds to a minute at the most. The longer its being shaken the more chlorophyl and other unwanted crap gets in it. Also the quality of the product you put in must be high. Every batch ive made differs a little and always tastes and smells like what i put in. I also only put about a gram of nug in and fill 1/8 a bottle of 93percent iso. I get about point 2 of amber glass.

Noted. I figured the alcohol would strip all the good stuff fairly quickly. Would this be considered amber glass in your opinion? Next time I believe I will use more iso..this stuff is real potent but a little more yield would be great. :)

I'm about to try my hand at this tomorrow, only with shake from a harvest today and froze immediately. I have a gallon of 99% Iso in the freezer. You think a 1 minute wash here as well? Just 1 time, no re-wash?

I wish I could get Everclear in Michigan.

Really, can't get everclear? That sucks ..
I don't think you need to rewash or put the shake through more than once. Chlorophyll strips from the plant material quickly so agitating it too much will just give you the stuff you don't want or need.

You ban buy 190 proof everclear online and have is shipped to you. IMO, one minute is too long.

UPDATE: Did the frozen 99% Iso with the fresh frozen shake. When slow evaporated and scraped up, it was a thin tan-colored haze on the pan that became tan powder. Tasted like shit.

At the same time in a separate glass sheet pan, I evaporated months worth of grinder cleaning Iso. I keep a jar and do a dunk of the grinders every so often. This iso was red / burgundy so I figured pretty strong. Tasted like shit.

I will try everclear, but no more iso.
