First Qwiso, need advice

I made a batch of qwiso with some fresh bud from my harvest. After a few days I had a thin cloudy film on my pyrex and it scraped up into a pile of blond powder. Quite a bit actually as I did two quart mason jars filled 70% with broken up buds.

My question is, how do I get this powder to stick together? Thanks

I'm assuming the cloudy film you refer is the dried hash oil?

As the Iso mix dries its possible especially if speeding with a fan. To see the fluid cloud. This is it forming an azeotrooe as the fluids evap. Anyway it's not done yet till all cloudiness is gone. If its multi colored and creamy when you scraped its not done purging.

But if it is indeed dry. And you are left with a thin later that scraped into a powder...
You can fill wax paper . fold over and compress by hand. The pressure and warmt of your hand will be enough to melt it together if its decent. If not you may need a hair dryer etc then press.

Lemme see if I can find a before Nd after pic real quick.

I usually just sell like that or top bowls

Check my thread "qwizos qwiso"
For better technique. I made it still basic though for the avg person

This is what I have. I've got another dish that looks just like this. It appeared dry before I scraped it up. The color was consistent. It's been siting like this for 24 hours which I'm assuming can't be good being exposed to air.

The side closest to you was darker possibly due to lighting or being under done.
Overall looks dry. I'd go ahead and press of that's your plan

Read the thread I mentioned. You can just Google that title it pops up first
I talk about purge times.

Usually once it appears dry I wait 4-6 hrs then scrape. And analyze that....
You could always post pics here to make sure.

Ya my avi is also hash oil like that. Lotta people think it's hash.

Follow good tek and it'll be white
Just be careful with it you know

Do a few washes one 15 then another. Have everything 0° . do in low light. Stage filtering so plant matter isn't just sitting in your coffee filter

Etc

Well here is what I got from a few scoops of powder. I actually ended up sitting on it for about 15 minutes because I got tired of pressing it with my hand. I can see that I let way too much plant matter get through now. I was kinda fumbling around being my first time I didn't realize it was going to take so long to filter I screwed up and spilled a little semi filtered stuff into the pyrex.

I've still got a bunch of fresh frozen. I think I'll do smaller runs next time and be more careful for starters. I'll also cut down my wash time down a little. I think I did about 35-40 seconds on these runs.

It does smell really nice and got me ultra blasted when I tested it out. Thanks!IMG_2237.JPG

Teks were made for a reason bro
Yup, right on. Made some beginner mistakes. I'll post my next batch when I get a chance to make it. I've seen much worse browsing the web, so I'm still pretty content with what I did. My next batch will be better because I know more of what NOT to do.

Thanks for your advice!

@qwizoking - being that I'm using fresh frozen, how long would you recommend i soak my material in 91% iso? Is there a difference in times for fresh or dried? I'm about to do another batch here. Thanks

Did you Read my thread?
I think I went over that not sure..might a been elsewhere

Make sure everything is super cold. The less cuts in plant matter the better. Use frozen scissors etc. Keep it all COLD

it will green much faster fresh. Definitely do a 10-15 sec wash. That'll be pretty. Do another till it looks pale yellow or green another 15seconds all I would do

Yeah I read the thread. You recommended 20 seconds or up to 45, but I was just wondering if maybe there was a difference in times between fresh and dry.

You also said that each have their pros and cons, fresh and dry that is. What might those be?

Well wet gets dirty quicker, it's harder for a beginner to get perfect..

Its my fav

But I can go into more detail in a bit of the pros and cons

Well I've got a first run second run dripping right now. I did them both for 20 seconds, now sitting in the dark. no fumbling around this time. Half the size of my other batch, so it should dry faster than last time. I'll post pics of the finished product when it's done. Hopefully much better than my last batch. I've still got another quart jar full of fresh frozen to do after this one as well.

@qwizoking[/USER] A few questions about my latest batch. My first wash looks pretty good but has some discoloration I believe from drying the left over water with a fan. The second wash has some sticky looking spots. Is that from condensation or something during evaporation?
