First mushroom grow

Hey guys I'm going to be doing my first grow here in hopefully a month or two and just wanted to hear some recommendations for high potency beginner strains. I am aware b+ is a good beginner strain but I don't think they are very potent. I am capable of following instruction very precisely so I can handle anything that isn't like the worst colonizer in the history of mycelium

Also I was wondering if anybody knows websites that will ship peyote cactus or Peruvian torch to the US. I've never tried mescaline and I feel the most spiritual way to do it would be grow it myself. Preferably the living cactus, I don't want to deal with germing the seeds

Sound interesting.
.3 grams to feel shamanic effects? I wouldn't believe that even if I tried it and it worked

San Pedro... it grows about 1 foot per year and you should grow it yourself... cuttings are very hard to come by nowadays

Sup nootnam, I am gathering the things for my first myco project too. I went with Golden teachers and penis envy. From what I hear/read the GT is fairly easy for newbs, and the penis envy is more of a steady buzz rather than coming in waves. Im going to wait until it starts to cool off a bit so the temps don't get too high, but ill be starting in the next few weeks. What tek you planning on going with? Cant help with the cactuses but ill be checking things out, good luck.

After doing some research, I'm probably going to go with the GT as well. Penis envy is supposed to be super short on spore droppings so you barely get more than one flush. I'm going to go with the Midwest ultimate grow kit. 100 bucks and it includes everything to have a complete automated temp/humidity grow plus 100% guaranteed pre sterilized substrate jars. Just need to wait till I have some extra cash to afford the kit and spores

Golden teachers, PES Blue Hawaiian, Ecquadors all are known for aggressive mycelial growth...which is what ya want for your fist try...something that runs quick....keeps the chance of contaminants down

That's my issue. I don't know where to get the seeds, cuttings or plants.
Seeds in general: http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com/seeds-c-44.html
San Pedro seeds: http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com/pedro-cactus-seed-pack-p-426.html
Peruvian Torch Seeds: http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com/peruvian-torch-cactus-p-134.html
Trichocereus Bridgesii: http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com/achuma-cactus-seeds-p-776.html

I've also seen some cuttings for all three kinds on Amazon.com of all places, but I'm not sure I trust the sources.

Grow Bags are also good for a first time grow.. low chance of contams since it comes pre-sterilized. All you do is inject the spores and wait for the bag to colonize. Then you do your light cycling, if you want to fruit in the bag (which is also good for your first time).

Here's one example: http://www.shroomsupply.com/mushroom-grow-kits/mushroom-cultivation-kits

I've seen other sites like The Mad Season sell them as well. When looking for grow bags make sure they are designed for fruiting in the bag, as some are simply just bags of substrate and not meant for growing in the bag directly.

Here's a list of trusted vendors of shroom supplies and spores: http://www.shroomery.org/sponsors.php

I recommend The Hawks Eye for spores: http://www.thehawkseye.com/
The Hawks Eye is very reliable, has been around forever, and gives away extra spores and other stuff for free depending on your order size. Their website isn't very flashy, but they get the job done.

If you invest in your own PC(15PSI) you can guarantee the quality of your spawn by sterilizing it yourself. Drop's your cost basis throughout the process as well....Also allow's you to fiddle around with other substrate choice's and lock in whatever it is that work's best for you or your strain.

What is it with potency of mushrooms? Unless you are growing the ultra strong types, all cubes are about the same. Given that b plus is say five percent less potent, but it is very easy to grow, wouldnt you be far better served by growing five percent more b plus?
