First journal, 2nd grow

So I thought I'd start a journal for growing, since I seem to really be getting into it. First I'll start out with my first grow. My very first plant to ever grow, while I was very pleased with the quality of the buds, they lacked in size. here are the pics from the first grow:

Blue Mystic Feminized - Nirvana Shop

some strange spotting formed. Possibly from misting the plant with water while the lights were on. Thought it was a good idea.

I'd imagine using the Mylar increased hot spots.

Plant begun flowering, looks pretty leggy. Lights weren't strong enough.

Flowering began

Nearly finished flowering (although I think I should have gone another week.)

Harvest, .8 oz. Could have been a lot better.

So what did I learn from this first grow. Lights are obviously important. I've upgraded to a CFL of 125W I believe it is, Flurowing. I want to stay in low power consumption for green reasons (da dun chi.) The nutes were very noobish. Mostly fertilizers, nothing organic. I flushed 10 days before harvest with about 2 gallons of distilled water. The smoke definitely didn't crackle or seem harsh.

In my opinion as a newb, this really motivated me to grow better, stronger, and bigger. I have since switched to full organics. I do not like synthetics (except for the lighting) and want to stay as natural as possible, at least in the nute department. This was a fun learning experience, and think I am now obsessed with growing!

Comments are welcome, good or bad.

Very good post mate .8 oz isn't bad for your first go considering here .8 of an oz is from $250-$310 in value. With $15 or $20 a gram prices, if sold in grams it'd be worth more. So I say a dollar a day vs $200 at once meaning you get 78 dollars paid for .8 oz is good.

Your next grow should be even better!

2nd grow: Blue Mystic AF. After researching more about the autoflowers, I'm not sure I'm going to like using them anymore after this. This grow is 70% coconut peat, 15% potting, and 15% worm castings. Have a vermicompost going now, using water from my fish tank which tested high in potash. Phosphorus is bat guano. Full organics now, strong lights, this one looks more promising. She started asymmetrical growth about a week ago. Pics below taken 4/17/2014. Grow started on 3/19/2014.

I guess if you click the actual file name 20140515 it shows a much larger version of the pic. Trichs can definitely be seen forming. If my first crappy grow was almost an ounce...well, let's just say i'm already happy with what I'm seeing in that last pic! TY Rollitup for all the helpful info out there!
