First grow light question

Hey guys, I am getting ready to start my first grow and have a quick question about germination lights.
I am using the DWC system to grow a total of 11 plants under a 600 watt hps/mh light. My question is I use this light as soon as I plant my sprouted seeds in my system? In most of the books I have read they suggest using fluorescent lights for the first couple weeks and then switching to hps or mh.
I already have the 600 so I would like to start under that but if it is better to start under fluorescent then thats not a big deal. Any info would be a big help. Thanks

Bro u should raise the light about 1.5 feet above the plants to prevent burning the young plants . since uve got 11 plants go with t5 floro or even 3-4 florocent bulbs to keep low heat , provide decent light, and save on electricty.

After a week or so, just put them under the 600w and they should be ok.

Cheers :)

What it comes down to is "common sense" and "economics".

Why in the world would you want to waste (and pay for) 600 watts of electricty, when the job you're doing could easily be done with 100 watts, or less? It just makes sense to be conservative!
