First Grow Journal - Fem. Jack Herer

I just came back from the 'Dam, and checked in with some old grow buddies. I want to tell you that I asked about jack herer simply because this nice guy on the internet was curious, but Jack Herer is on my short list for next grow as I love the high.

Everyone said the same thing - great smoke, but the funky genetics of some of the seed banks makes for an easy-to-hermie product that can be tricky for civilians. They talked me out of it for a couple of reasons (I won't "jack" your thread any further than to say that my next batch will be Arjan's Ultra Haze #2).

So the bottom line is that if you've grown before without having "chicks with dicks", you are in for one helluva ride in 3-5 months. Just be sure to send me an invite to the "opening day smoke-a-thon"!

Thank you everyone for your kinda words and advice it is very appreciated! I scrubbed my box but NO i did not use chemical disinfectant I assumed removing all the dirty would work? So far today no gnat sighting but there is a housefly in the vinager/juice mix.
I hope that the Jack does not turn hermie that would really blow! I have good light and temp control. I have heard it is a somewhat hard strain but I am hoping good old love and affection oh and good dirt light water and ferts! will be enough. It will be a learning experience either way! I just can't wait to see some little guys poke there heads out of the soil! I know its only been a few days but it worries me. I'd post some new pics but theres really been no changes except my momma is looking perkier.

Well the last seed germed so were 10 for 10! everyone is planted now and under 24 hr flouro light. I cant wait until they start to come up and i'll be sure to get pics. I have been keeping the soil in the peat pots nice and damp. Temp was 72 degrees F and Humidity 54%.
In very barely grow related news, it was raining pretty hard this evening, probably why the humidity was up a bit. This soaking wet black tomcat showed up at the door begging to come in and he is now living very close to my grow... Tomorrow ill have to go post signs or whatever to find kitty his home. Cats are cool but they're little plant murderers...

DAY FIVE- Still have ten peat pots with no lil sprouts :( I hope they come up soon. I think one may be trying to break the surface though. I watered them again, as the dirt was dry on top. Kitty is very friendly, today I have to try and find his home. The only insect I have seen in the past few days has been a few ladybird beetles, which i left on my momma plant. She, btw is doing great even after her crazy strip down :)

congrats on the resurrection! I'm in the same boat, it's day 4-5 since planting my seeds in the jiffy pots and no sprouts. Sadly last night i was stoned and inpatient and dug up 3 of my seeds. No growth what so ever in any seed... so i figured i burned in the begining when my lights were too close. :( :(

i'm gunna be watching your grow close! Good luck to ya

i had started germination on 4 more bluebry seeds last night after the fatal discovery

Thanks!!! I'm so excited about these "babies." NINE have come up now, and the one that hasn't was the last seed to germ, as well. I did sift around in the top dirt a little but i was afraid to injure it.

Cannot wait to see the pictures!
Here are some off my phone camera. I'll get better ones tomorrow. 9/10 girls have come up! The temp. was 74 this morning and 72 tonight. The humidity was 51% this morning and 50% tonight. The seedlings are a couple inches under flouro shop lights. I just watered only the one that has not come up yet (also I soaked all of them this morning.)
I put up signs but no one has called to claim this damn cat. Its living in my bathroom and it has made big gouges in the paint/wall, windowsill and trim climbing up into the window. Its also a very messy eater and there are pieces of cat food everywhere as well as the canned food mashed into the floor all over. Lovely. Anyone want a nice cat? It will behave for you, i swear :mrgreen::mrgreen:

DAY 7 - One of the seedlings died today. :( it was very small and had barely emerged from the soil when it just shriveled and died. I pulled it up and it turns out that it had no roots??? Just the seed case with the little green leaf but no root system at all??? Weird. So now I have 8 babies doing great and one im still waiting on. Not all of the seedlings have pushed their seed cover off yet. Humidity dropped to 44% today and temp was at 76 degrees F. So my temp seems to swing back and forth from 72-76 and humidity from 44-51. I'll get some pics tonight. Still have not seen any gnats, just ladybirds :)

Congratulations - now the fun begins!

how long do you plan to veg them for?
Thanks! I'm actually a mommy not a daddy but yeah... Anyway
, I plan on vegging 3-4 weeks. I have to keep my plants small as my space to flower in is only 2'deep 2' wide and 4' tall, plus the pots and enclosed light take up room. I want to try some method to keep them short. I was thinking either LST or topping? Any opinions on what would work better? Also, if i topped, I would then be cloning each plant wouldn't I? I could do it at the very end of veg and then start the clones as I flower the first jh. hmmm... decisions decisions...

DAY 8 - The 8 seedlings are growing and doing well. I watered them lightly today. The humidity seemed low (yesterday it went down to 44%,) so I took some measures to raise it. Its now at 55% with temp on 75 degrees F. Six of the seedlings are totally open and normal, and two are smaller and kinda funky shaped? I'm hoping they are just not fully open yet. the pics are of those two, plus two of the "normal" looking ones.
