First grow, Indoor. T5 cfl. Power flower fem.

Hello everyone and thanks for taking part in my first grow! I did my studying and feel confident on my knowledge and abilities! I'm very excited to begin this journal. As of now I'm two weeks from sprout. Here is some detail of my setup.

3x3x5 grow tent
Fox Farm ocean Forest soil
110 watt t5 ho lights. 6400k bulbs for veg. Will switch to 2700 for flower
Also using a few drop cfls to the side.
Using RO water from the local store. Will add cal-mag once needed. Haven't yet.
And will be trying the fox farm trio nutes.
Beforehand I'd like to thank everyone who will be following this journal. Please feel free to critique any of my methods. Any and all knowledge will be helpful! Here are some pics of my setup and a few pics of my baby so far.

I realize my baby is a little compacted and reaching upwards, I believe I was over watering them. I was watering every other day, and will now wait another day in between waterings.

Pic #2 is the most recent. Taken tonight. I am now conflicted on why my baby is growing like she is. I believe it's either two things. 1. Starting out in FFOF from seedling could have been a bad move,the nutes already in the soil could be stunting the growth or 2. Over watering. I have been watering every other day, and checking the soil to make sure it's dry before i water. Today after I watered (before I started this journal). After about a 1/2 hr into todays light cycle I looked in and noticed That the leaves had risen even more. In a half hr after watering! If people have a detailed conclusion on which it could be, I would greatly appreciate it!

How old are they? I don't think they are overwatered. It might be a bad idea to skip more days between watering.

I have the t5 6 inches above plant 110 watts 6400k. Then beside her i have 2 "75" watt 5000k bulbs and 2 2700k's. Each of the cfls are in double splitters. V-shaped, surrounding the plant, 3 inches away.

I may just be worrying to much but if you look at the pics, the leaves gradually start to move upwards so to speak as she gets older. I believe it started doing this when I added the cfls. When it was 1 week old.

Any thoughts?

Its because of the lights. Try repos'ing it to where the lights are back slightly further. I dont remember cfls getting as hot, however they seem to close and if you them back you maybe able to stablize it out before any real dmg is done.

Thanks for the reply! I thought cfls we're suppose to be as close as possible without burning?

Depends on the plant and other variables. if you have nutes already in the soil and it has too much light focused on it, it will burn.

You have way more light that that little plant needs / can use right now. If you have a sunny window sill that will be fine for the next month. Just one of those curly cfls would be fine as well if you are going for super stealth but keep it withing a few inches.

Okay thank you! I'll just take out the cfls and use the f5 for now and see how that works

Keep the updates coming, I'm curious to see how this turns out. I had the same thing happen with a seedling after only about a week, but it started to fade as well so I just tossed it and restarted...it was a bag seed anyway.

This sounds like it may be what happened to mine, I started the seed in MG organic choice and that already has nutes. After about a week I changed to a better bulb and put it closer, and that's when the leaves pointed up and then the next day they started curling.

When I restarted, I put the seed in a plug and it seems to be doing WAY better than what I had before..less stretching and bigger greener leaves. However, like I said, it was a bag seed and when I replanted I went with a DNA genetics seed...genetics may have played a part, but either way I think the plug is a good idea because it creates a time buffer before the nutes get to the roots giving it some time to stabilize itself first.

Hey everyone. So after doing some research and reading thru the comments about 6 zillion times. I came to conclusion that I was NOT overwatering. I waited my normal time inbetween watering a and did a thorough check of my soil. It was infact mostly dry thru and thru. So, I took out the cfls and now just using the t5. I did add a tiny bit of cal mag with this watering after reading ro water could use it with every watering if needed. Hope this helps with the yellowing. Your comments are always very appreciated!

So I'm on day 21 from sprout. I did the see leaves start to settle a lot after taking the cfls away, so that's a good thing! I did decide to transplant into my 3 gallon. 70% FFOC 30% perlite. I transplanted in between watering days. When doing so, I worked the soil a little then flipped upside down. All the top soil down to the roots came crumbling down and exposed the whole plant. So I carefully replanted into the new soil. Any thoughts on why the soil did that? The "yellowing leaves" have not gotten worse nor have they improved. It also doesn't look to be spreading any further.

Both of these pictures are from today. 2 days after transplant. Please someone give me some input! Size, appearance? It is a dud?

These pictures are from Day 25 after sprout. She has shown new signs of growth for the first time since transplant! This means transplant was successful right? The pics also show the tips of my 2nd set of true leaves, they had turned yellow and now they're browned. But has not spread in days. Input on that matter would be awesome! And also, the 1st set of true leaves had turned completely limegreen/yellowish but now seem to be darkening once again. Input from an experienced grower would be greatly appreciated! It still seems very small for her age. But then again, this is my first grow.

So I'm on day 25 from sprout. She seems to be growing nicely. I did start 1/4 strength fox farm big bloom. Going to start with just one feeding a week. But will still be giving it cal/mag bionicaire plus with every watering/feeding. Gotta admit I'm kind of disappointed I haven't had more input from some growers. I know this thread is getting views well, here's my most recent pics. Taken today. Still some yellowing on the oldest leaves and a few "crispy" spots on the edges. Some advice would be awesome

she is beautiful. I have girl at this age and it's my first indoor with cfls too.
some of my girls have that yellowing. I don't know what is this...

I have come to believe that the yellowing is minor nute burn. Presumably from the soil getting to hot with the amount of light I had on her too early on. So I took out the extra light until she needs it. She has grown tons since then and the yellowing hasn't spread
