I'm getting ready for my first closet hydroponics DWC grow under the guidance of Growing Great Marijuana and The Cannabis Grow Bible. However, I still have several questions regarding supplies/room/logistics and hope that you all can lend some corrective criticism. Nothing is set in stone so passing on any knowledge will be greatly appreciated.
I plan on growing in a walk-in closet that is 7' x 4.5' by 7' tall. I plan on growing 12 Indica/hybrid plants in 4 rubbermaid tubs (3 plants ea) and the total grow area will be 4.5' x 2.5' under a 1000w HPS lamp. Each tub lid is 27" x 16" and the tubs come in two depths and I don't know which to get. If I'm growing the plants in 5" net pots, should I buy the 7" (8 gal) or 11" deep tubs? How much clearance is needed between the bottom of the pot, the water line, and the air stone? Does 3 plants per tub (27" x 16" area = 3 sq. ft) allow enough room for proper growth of Indica/hybrid plants?
I'm using 1 Topfin 5" round air stone under each plant. These air stones seem to produce bubbles more evenly and frequently then the long air stones. Comments?
The room is being painted with Valspar Signature Colors interior 100% acrylic matte wall paint...seems highly reflective and easy to cleen. Comments?
There is a window in the closet that is on the front of the house facing the road some 30 feet away. With that said, bearing security in mind, what is the best way to turn this window into a concealed ventilation unit? The only other airflow into the room would be intake from opening and closing the door leading to my bedroom. Ducting into the attic is not an option and I live in an area of the US that has hot summers.
I plan on using the GH Flora Gro/Bloom/Micro system. Along with pH up, pH down, and distilled water, is it necessary or recommended to buy any other nutes to start out with (Floralicious Plus, KoolBloom, SubCulture, CHI and Diamond nectar, FloraKleen, and/or FloraShield)? If growing 12 plants per harvest, what size nute bottles should I be buying? (1 quart? 1 gallon? 6 gallon?)
If using a DWC triple bubbler, how much nute solution is consumed by 3 plants daily? Is it normal or bad to be replenishing nutes daily in addition to changing out every two weeks?
It is recommended that you not use personal credit cards to purchase seeds online and many people suggest using prepaid gift cards or reloadable cards to get around this. Problem is that MC/Visa/AmEx gift cards are all for use in the USA only and I plan on ordering seeds from Holland or Canada. The green dot reloadable MC/Visa cards (such as those at Wal-Mart) require a social security card, name and address to activate so discretion will again be compromised. How the hell do you order seeds online shipped to the US without leaving a paper trail and without sending cash internationally?
I plan on using Rhinoseeds (Cannabis Seeds) to purchase my feminized Dutch Passion, Barney's Farm, and Greenhouse Seed Co. seeds. Any recent transactions with this company? Do you suggest an alternative for feminized DP, BF, and GH seeds shipped to the US? Should I have them shipped to my house (the growhouse) or do I need to worry about a P.O. Box or something else?
