First Drip to Waste, Pump spilling a lot of water when off?

So I setup my first automatic irrigation system, and I am having several problems.

First thing, I have a 100L res, filled the res, placed the pump inside, ran it for 1 min and turned it off because I realized several things. 1) pump is too strong1(1hp i think) 2) everything was soaked in less than one minute(like a flush soaked) 3) craziest shit I've ever done.

Now, after turning it off. I thought "hey, it only takes a minute to water than I'm done". Yep, then I left for a couple hours to come back and find my 100L res 80% empty while the pumps off. WHAT THE HELL?! So, today I refilled the res, had the pump off as well, to realize as I was filling the res, that water is coming out underneath the plants. What the? So I took my pump out the res and it stopped pouring out of my pots. Now, it was a gradual spill, like some sort of pressure was somehow moving water up and down my lines/drippers.

How can I solve this? and how is this even possible? my hose goes up(when in res) and bends down right at the lip of the res. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, here is some pics to help you guys get a better idea. Just picture, that pump, in that res.

If the pump is higher than the plants even after the pump stops running it will continue to siphon the water

It's not really that much higher thou..maybe 4-5". I wonder if it would make that much of a difference. The only thing that's really that high; but drops down, is the hose. I'll try bringing the plants up and see what if that helps. Thanks bro.

Your res will siphon as long as the output end of your hose is lower than the level of your res.
