First Cab...stoked!

@twostrokenut Okay so it would seem that they are doing as you said but with perlite and vermiculite. I am assuming you could do the same thing but run Coco and then perlite up passed the hole instead? It actually doesn't look like a bad idea and people seem to have great results with it! For my first run I'm going to run normal pots I think but this actually looks like it's not too far off the beaten path so I'll have to keep this in mind! Thanks for the suggestion.

That's what I was intending on doing with my cab if I ever upgrade. Make this one either a vegging or cloning chamber.
Thats the glory of starting small. There's always a use for these little cabs. The huge room will have to wait. At some point in my life though, I would like to more than an Oz per plant but that's down the line.

NP, you can do straight coco. I used dirt on top, coco in the middle and rocks on bottom. Accommodated all 3 types of roots.

Cool! Do you use a pre mix for the soil or do you mix your own with amendments and such? I'd imagine you just use some good FF ocean forest or the like?

Sorry to jack. There's three types of roots? I thought there was only fine and main. What's the other?

I like FF potting soil, Happy Frog. I cook it with Lime. I find the OF a little too hot for babies. Some don't though and do well.

Water roots.

I have grown about every way known to man, cabinet ,rooms ,even the great outdoors .The number one thing about small cab grows is efficiency.I would suggest staying away from growing traditional style plants and go with a simple one plant scrog, you'll thank me later. And if possible get another led cob to throw in there maybe something in the 3000k rating.these can be found for less than 50 bucks.

I appreciate your input. I have actually been tossing around the idea of doing a 2 plant scrog just to allow for two different strains. I like to have options when it comes to smoke.;) My light setup, I'll most likely leave with the one 100w Cob to be honest. We will be moving out of our tiny apartment in the next couple years and at that point, I'll have a room set up with a clone/veg area and a flower area. I just don't want to dump a bunch of money in the little box. You know? I'm not on any kind of budget, but I don't want to come out at the same price range as a 100x100x200 tent.:wall:

I'll have an update for you guys later this week hopefully. Its been a little hectic around here and this box isn't exactly top priority.:peace:

Good Luck!! Starting my first ever cab grow.

Can be a little unnerving but I have found a bunch of great stuff on local craigslist or online ads. Got the box for next to nothing and some cheap mods its bigger, more air, better reflection. most expensive will be replacing the CFL with LED (like putting rims on your 86 Buick) but did it all for around $100.

Check in on locals here at RollitUp!

Hello hello hello!

It's been a while since I have updated, but real life calls. I know that there are a good few of you that have been of much help and we're looking forward to this grow probably every bit as much as I was, however, the wife has changed her mind for a number of reasons and I'm not trying to put any un-needed stress on our relationship.:wall: I just want to say thank you to those that interacted with me and offered advice and conversation.

I am a bit bummed out considering I had everything ready to go. I just needed to piece it together, and pop my beans, but hey. What can you do, you might ask? Well, I'll tell ya. Me being me, I most likely have an ace up my sleeve...somewhere, so feel free to follow me! You haven't seen the end of ol' Waxy! I'll just leave it at that.:fire:

If your wife isn't on board, don't try to sneak in something somewhere. It could cost you the person who should be your top priority and perhaps your freedom if she feels vengeful. "Hell have no fury as a woman scorned" wives and girl friends have gotten more people in trubble than we can count. Just play it safe, maybe in a year you will have her support as the mood of the nation is shifting to medical or rec and that will be much better and happier for you both. She will know your hiding something if she knows you at all.

Oh I absolutely agree with you 100% and appreciate the concern. Very noble of you, but it's not the growing that is the issue. It's the location. We live in a small apartment and it concerns her to have to grow in area where little fingers might be tempted to pry. I am not ignorant of the fact and had planned to have it locked down like Fort Knox but to be fair, I can say that I was a little eager to get started and slightly jumped the gun. I'll be getting something else started here in the future that suits the both of us and will give her a little more peace of mind.
