first auto-grow seed starting questions

Hey everyone, this is my first auto grow and i have a few questions. strains are
Revolver and
Candy Cane from cropking seeds. it'll be an outdoor run but i have to keep them inside for at least a month due to temps.

My question is, will it be ok to start them in 1gal and transplant into 3 gal when im able to move them outside? I know transplanting isnt ideal for autos but they shouldnt suffer too bad should they? I usually dont have transplant issues with my photostrains. I usually see growth resume in 2-4 days.

My other big question is if autos need a dark period to flower, or if they'll flower under 24/7.

any other auto tips would be greatly appreciated

ok auto flowers since they are so quick .transplanting them is not a good idea ...........u can start the seed in one of those jiffy plugs then move the plug to the final container for the auto plant (the container that the plant will be in tho harvest)

auto flowers are made from a strains that grow in rocky places or places like Alaska (the sun is shine for 23 hours a day) ........the light timing can be anything u want 20/4 24/0 .....the dark period is not needed but it does help make the plant look little prettier

personally i do a 24/0 then right before i cut the plant down i give it 48/72 hours of darkness

I am trying out Jiffy pots. They are made of peat and virtually disintegrate when you plant the whole pot with the plant in the final container. That being said, I have read over and over, #1 rule with autos, do NOT transplant. If the Jiffy pots work, great, if they don't, well, I'll be happy with whatever I get.

i tried jiffy pots on 5 of my photos last year. i never liked them at all. i could see fuzzy green mold growing on the outside of the pots after about 2 weeks i ended up just tearing them off and no roots had started to pentrate the pot yet.

ya i read over and over not to transplant them too. i didnt think i would have the room to start them i 3gal bags but ive made it work somehow

yeah you can transplant if your careful and wait until you have a nice well developed rootball youll cause little to no shock and should be pretty well off in a 3 gallon just use your better judgement, if its a tiny plant a 2 gallon will probably due.... oh and dont wait too long because itll stop growing if the roots are stunted in a pot.

people who say not too usually just dont have much experience but ive done this hundreds of times and I can say without a doubt its not that big an issue.

hell I go tray to cup to 1 gallon to 2 or 3 depending on the size of the plant, this is also strain dependant tho.

Usually transplanting should be kept to minimum. I germ seeds then " plant " them into their final container. I run a 24/0 light cycle that most breeders reccomend .
18/6 is another option. Autos are not necessarily dependent on dark period because they do three stages of life. ( GROW , BLOOM AND DIE ).

For me 12/12 cycles gave less yield. I ran 2 blue mystics , one on 12/12 other on 18/6 with regular veg plants. I had two distinct yield weights. 12/12 gave me around approx. almost 15/20% less ( same nutes ) . But for power saving , I chose CFL , I could leave all day long without too many issues ( heat and stuff ) . I changed from 5000k/6400k mix to 2700k when I flip them. But you can grow regardless of color. It craves light period.

With CFL I still finish within seed breeders estimated range. But since you are doing outdoors you can get a lot of growth done with CFL before trucking plants outside.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the tips and input. seems we have a difference of opinion on transplanting so i think ill do a side by side for myself to see the difference, so far theres 5 revolver sprouts and 4 candy cane. I will plant 2 of each from Jiffy cube, into thier final 3gallon grow bags. and the rest i will transplant from cube-1gal-3gal. This is just sort of a firsy auto/ earlybud outdoor project for me anyways. You dont know unless you try for yourself and see what works for you AND the strain i guess.
