First 6K Indoor Grow, Bodhi and TGA organic soil grow.

As the title suggests, this is the first time I've run more than 1200w in the flowering room. I've been growing for myself for 8 years though, and been studying indoor growing on and off for almost 20 years so hopefully I've got the tools to not screw this up.

The room is 11.5' x 14', I have 6 aircooled hoods, Quantums, and for the first couple runs the room will be air vented, no co2. Organic soil grow in 5-10 galloners. We were able to build the room from scratch inside a shop, so we have lots of clean white walls, all electrics are on top the room, and six 20 amp circuits with GFCI. The strains running for the first flip are Shiva from Bodhi, Green Python from Bodhi, Plushberry from TGA.

Room will be vented with a 750 cfm vortex s line with a huge 750cfm rated carbon filter. I hope that's enough to keep the air cool while running at night in there until we can afford a mini split. I've got 4 oscillating 16'' fans that I will use to keep the air moving in there too.

In the future I plan to switch to an aeroponic rail system, go sealed room with co2 and ditch the organics. Maybe even go to water cooled hoods. But for now I have to stick in there where the budget permits. I've been getting a jumpstart at a different facility, but this place should be ready to go next week:)

I would really appreciate any input, if there's some interest I don't mind posting a few photos.
Until then....Damn fungus gnats
Cheers

I'm subbing up for this ride! I am planning on a similiar sized grow soon so I look forward to seeing your setup. Are you running digital or mag ballasts and 120 or 240?
I run a lot of crosses with bohdis dream lotus have a lot of success. Seems like top notch genetics.

good luck stay free stay high

Thx man I've got the digital dimmable quantum ballasts for 158 each. They are switchable to run 120 or 240. I'm into the whole setup for about $3500 to 4000 including all the supplies for the room. I'll post pics after we paint the room and hang the lights. There aren't many people on here running rooms this size, but there are a few. I think I will have a pretty dialed in setup for winter!

Cheers

Yea. I love this site but its.mostly smaller grows. Its nice to see people who know what they are doing :). Can't wait to see pics carry on!

One big thing I learned is to go with a light box controller right out of the gates. I could have run just 1 80 amp supply and run everything at 240v. Then out of a 100amp sub panel you can run up to 19000 watts of hps. My setup was cheaper but I'll have to upgrade down the road.

yea I want to get some learning in on electronics and hvac. I know its way cheaper to build you own room controllers and ducting mini splits and upgrades when you can do it yourself. I can make great auto water systems cheaply but having the fans turning up and down based on temp inside and outside and all that idk.

The best advise I can give.. Start with genetics you know will work.even if you have to pay someone a ridiculous amount of money for genetics.. It'll save you in the end. 6k watts is a big room to start with. My buddy moved to Cali and started with 4 lights.. He grew that plushberry bullshit instead of listening to me. 6 pheno types he started with.. Some came out frosty...looks bomb.. None of them were Stoney and no one wants that shit. He found the best pheno and grew it again. Guess what.. No one wants that shit..he did everything right and used a good lineup of nutes. He just had to call it quits and move back home while in debt to his ears. Unless your in some east coast state.. Grow what people want. I am doing 9k watts in 20x18 . Your room is a big on the small size for 6k watts in my opinion. I would try to utilize all of that area for canopy. What is your yield goal?

Also I was curious why your not doing co2 the first batch? Most people need a good first harvest to pay the start up costs.. Co2 will increase your yields dramatically I would recommend looking into that. Are you doing the tga supersoil? I did this on some outdoor for fun.. Things came out pretty good.. I don't know that I would recommend it for indoor though..not if your looking for a large yield Sorry I just read the rest of your post I missed.. That's a bummer you can't get your mini split and co2 yet. So your planning to cool all of the air with the fresh air exchange? I think your going to have your work cut out for you. Aura sells refurbished 2 ton mini splits for 800 each and come with a warrantee. Sucks you got to cut holes in the room for an air exchange and then you got to go plug them back up to be sealed for the AC and co2. Good luck post some more pics

So I've been having some fungus gnat problems so I've been using FFOF instead of my own mix more and more. The nutes I'm using for transition are per gallon: general Organics Biothrive grow and bloom, 5ml each. Calmag 5ml. Sea green 1ml, molasses 2 drops. Seaweed 5ml. On watering days they get 6.3ish pH tap water that sits for days with a drop or two of molasses in it.

For bloom the recipe is 10ml Biothrive grow, 5ml calmag, 3ml biobud, 1ml seagreen.

Thinking of tweaking the recipe a little to add biomarine for weeks 3-7, maybe finding more magnesium to push it a little since the plants seem to tolerate the line pretty well.

Here's a photo of a clone I planted today, the oxyclone is a genius piece of equipment for about $60:)

Ok finally able to sit and chill for a minute. Here's a full update on the grow. Lmk if you think this is too long winded and if I should move it to a grow journal. But, I've learned so much on here over the years, and sifted through so much keyboard warrior bs that I hope this can help somebody out there learn a thing or two.

There have def. been things that have gone wrong.
#1: the flip didn't go clean. I haven't used Apollo digital timers in quite a while, and when I set them all up I left them all on 24/7 somehow. So, they were on 18/6 in veg, then 24/7 for like 3 days. Then, I caught it. But then when I fixed it, I still screwed up on 1 of them. So for the next day 1 lamp was on 24/7 and the rest of them were on 12/12. Omg anyone who has used Apollo 9 timers please feel free to chime in I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

#2 it was really warm here anyways and the plants ripped throughout the water for a few days, and the 24/7 didn't help. So , heat stress occurred and it's since recovered but lots of first run in a new room goof ups.

#3 I'm a little worried about my genetics. I grew most of these from seed so I really have to cross my fingers. The green python just has no stem strength. Today I finished repotting the next 26 girls who are in veg, mostly chemglue from a proven mom, dirty girl clones from a pretty mom, and fruity chronic juice. They went into mostly 10 liters of FFOF. Thinking of picking up some Chernobyl clones, I hope I can find the lime slurpee pheno we'll see.

Ok so now, it's smooth sailing. Despite all the issues most plants are really happy. The purple monkey balls is crazy! I should prob come up with a net system or something pretty soon :)
Cheers

shit happens, I've had a few screws up as well, as has every grower. I started a cycle forgetting I dimmed bulbs to 50%, had timers go out, had water pumps flood my place etc etc. Better to have the 24/0 happen at the beginning then 3/4 the way in at least!

Would love to see more pics!

I second the pics!

I'm about to make some really big upgrades as soon as my current round finishes up and this made me super motivated to do it! Nothing too crazy-I'm gonna do 2, 4x8 tables each with 2, 1000watters over them. I've been yielding well over a pound with just a 600w in a 4x4 footprint with 6-9 plants.

I'm subing up for the ride! Good luck mate
