Finally My First Grow

So I made a little modification to the system last night.
I have added a submersible pump in my res. The pump is feeding from res and dumping the water back into the grow buckets. I added a timer so she runs for 30 minutes every 2 hours. My thought is that it'll help with adjusting ph more constant thru out the buckets and nutrients will get circulated better.
I have a added a valve in line to control flow. I am thinking this will work better for me.

I also have another question. I have read and read and still confused as to when to consider my plants to be in thier veg cycle. I am just trying to get an idea of where they are at.
Here are the days and numbers.
Seeds placed in starter pellets on the 29 . They actually popped out the ground on the 6th of april.
I started the actuall counter on the 17
So from my count I am 1 week and 5 days in veg.
Those that sound about right?

You can count from whenever lol. I Sigurd veg starts after I see that first set of true leaves from seed, or after two weeks in the cloner.

I don't really worry about how long they have been vegging, I go by height. When they hit the height I want I flower. Could be 2-3 weeks veg, could be 5+. All depends.

Awesome mr goodtimes.
As far as eliminating the air stones thats might be a option once everything is dialed in as far as flow rate . Right now I have it at a slow steady rate. If I was using larger diameter pipes stronger pump. Definately would work.
On the next grow I wanna go much bigger.

This was a seed grown outdoors in August so it was like 12/12 from seed:

Any veg time just gives you even more :)

Just a lil update.
Eve since I have added the pump to recirculate the water thru the system the plants seem to be doing even better.
First of all its so much easier now to keep the ph constant thru out the buckets.
Been able to keep the water much cooler now since I am placing frozen water bottles in the res to keep water cool.
So far so good. All that I wanted to top have been topped once and 1 has been topped twice.
Really happy with it so far. Just entering 3rd week of veg.
Allready designing my next system.

Alright my friends.it has been a few weeks since my last post. Alot has happened...good and bad.
My girls have been.switched over to 12 12.
The one auto flower I have is already showing signs of buying.
The rest have slowed down to a crawl.
I have seen signs of mag and cal deficiencies. I am running distilled water. I have since bought cal- mag.
This feeding I let the system run with just water and cal mag because I was concerned about over feeding. I did this for 4 days and then feed the plants.
I brought my ppm from 900 down to 400. My concern is the plants are drinking the water but my ppm is rising . My ph is at a steady 5.8
Just wondering if I should be concerned and what should my next step should be.
Roots look healthy and strong. Water is around 68 -70 degrees consistently. My "lab" never gets over 78.

I do have to say I am using aurora soul synthetics. This is my first grow and I don't think I will be using these nutrients any more as I have found them to be messy extremely smelly, just plain nasty. Not saying they are not working. Just don't like the product in general.
Turns your roots a nasty brown color.
Hope to get your input
And thanks in advance

They look good.

It was kinda hard to tell w the purple lights on, but the cal mag deficiency doesn't look too bad. I think I saw a few yellowing leaves.

You could try just adding cal mg to your nute solution and see if that fits it. If it is cal mg it should.

Was the ppm rising when you had it at 900, or did that just start after dropping ppms to 400? It is normal for plants to drink more water as they get further along in flower ime

What happened is that I was sitting at 900 ppm all my plants started to look really bad leaves where dropping and.I was slowly loosing leaves they where drying up and dying. I honestly am not sure if the ppm was going up our not when it was at 900.
My last res change I used nothing but distilled water and cal mag plus for around 4 days. They slowly started recovering after 4 days I added nutes to the water but I added very very small amount for example if it called for 5ml a gallon I would only add 1ml.
I ended up with 450 ppm. Before adding the nutes my ppm was at 150 ppm with only cal mag and distilled water. Within a day or 2 after adding the small amount of nutes the girls came back.growing a few inches each day.
I am wondering if everything is okay. If it's ok and normal for my water level to drop but ppm to stay the same out rise.
After I initially asked about ppm they where in bad shape but they seem to be MUCH better now.
I will try to take pics without the led lights tonight when the light are on.
