Feminized Seeds?

Are Feminized Seeds A scam? I ask this question because I have been seeing more and more of the the feminized seeds on sites, but less of the regular. I am under the assumption that the best possible plant is going to come from a select group of plants with plenty of room to grow. That select group would be a crop that had both males and females. Then the best Male and best Female are selected from the group and then put together to plant fuck. Then the process starts over and the plants are grown until you slaughter all the males. To go even further the Best plant would then be the best female that is left.

Above describes the way in which the best possible female would be selected from a Mixed crop. The second Best plant would be to take a clone from that female and begin to grow that plant until it flowers. The third would be clones from that one, and so one....

My question is, where do the Feminized seeds come into play? Where do they even come from? I again make plenty of assumptions, but on feminized seeds I assume they come from a plant that is totally female and has been pollinated from a herm plant, but are the seeds then guaranteed to be female? More importantly what is the comparison from plant type to plant type? A fully grown select female, A clone, a Feminized plant? I ask this question because I want to order seeds, but it is a difficult decision. Going to the store and trying to decide between the hundreds of brands of asswipe is hard enough. There are thousands of strains out there now, WTF am I supossed to do?

some of us that have no room to sort out males or have mom plants use fem seeds as with anything there are good ones and bad ones i personally have used fem seeds and have not experieced any problems at all .I have used them off and on for years and never had one hermie on me i think alot of the bad rap comes from new growers that fuck it up then call seed bank error or bad genes imo

Feminised seeds are good if you want an "almost" guaranteed female. Sometimes a male slips itself in there but pretty rarely. I think it is a scam where if they only sell you feminised seeds you will not be able to make new seeds because of lack of males. If you like to clone over and over again I guess this isn't a problem, but if you grow outdoors and don't like to keep any on your own property or in your house you will be forced to buy more next season.
On the other hand having 5 or 10 feminised seeds while growing outdoors could be helpful if you don't want to visit your crop over and over throughout the season. I guess its just a matter of choice.... you could always grow out a male from a really good strain and cross it and get seeds. As for which strain is right for you? its a matter of what you are looking for, and what strain you have enjoyed the most. You may have to grow several plants to find the female which you love best, not every strain is stable enough that every plant will get you the high you want. Patience and persistence are key. Its all a matter of choice. Hope this helps :)

The female plant is sprayed with a chemical that induces male flowers, then those resulting seeds are feminized. I've used them in the past with good results. But if your looking for a mother plant or want to make seeds, you are better off using regular seeds. Other than that, the fem seeds I grew out in the past were big vigorous plants that were super bomb. I like Dinafem strains

make your own seed company, get some plants, let me "plant fuck" as you say and get your seeds, from there look for a trait in the plants to be harvested. after doing this you can narrow down your own strain and an endlesss supply of seeds. I have been doing this for the past year and finally have one plant in my garden of 7 that i will be planting "exclusive" her seeds and hers only from now on to keep her trait alive. Its fun

Dinafem is a solid company for solid genetic feminized seeds.
Female seeds also is solid in the same ways.
Most breeders are offering feminized seeds now. They are legit. You will hear people say crap like "hermie prone" and that might have been true in the past, and it may STILL be true with some of the pollen chunkers who call themselves breeders, but the good breeders and even alot of at home growers are mastering the ability to feminize seeds without issues.

Both female seeds and dinafem have low priced seeds as well.
I highly recommend the C99 products from female seeds, either the pure C99 or the C99 hybrid.

From what it seems to me, and from my experiences growing with feminized seeds, its as close to clone as you can get with a seed. Its basically breeding one clone with another clone. I dont see very many phenos from feminized seeds, which is why I feel this way. That is also the reason people will say regular seeds are better. With regular seeds you seem to get a much wider gene pool producing many different phenos. This can be a good or bad thing. You can get some really fantastic plants. But if you have to grow out 20 before you get one, it becomes a real money pit and takes away your time. Especially for those of us who never go past 6 plants (becomes federal).

I wouldn't call it a scam but I would consider it a good business plan for the seed companies.
Many growers are quite content using feminized seeds, they like the convenience of planting females only and the time it saves sexing their plants.

On the other hand there are growers like myself that enjoy the breeding aspect of growing cannabis.
And you are correct, seed companies are holding on to their males seeds and flooding the market with feminized versions.
Before long, most growers will have no alternative but to choose genetics from the commercial breeders, the same breeders that are creating a monopoly on cannabis strains today.

I waited over a year to get some true landrace beans from Afghanistan from a friends brother that was over there, they are like gold to me!

Take Jesus of Cannabis's advice, find some quality (regular) seeds and put good use them my friend.

Well, its alot easier to use regulars when you are in certain positions. In some areas and for some growers the ability to start alot and cull them down, saving mothers, cloning, is not an option. I personally like to pop 2 feminized and 2 regulars. Three females is my optional number but if I get real lucky and end up with 4 females I can squeeze it in. And the thing is, even if this does become the "norm" for commercial companies to monopolize the industries, it will never stop you from being able to use collodial silver and make your own feminized seeds from whatever crosses you want.
