I've already grown some feminized white widow, i got 9 out of 10 females, if your growing a small personal amount then you can quite easily manage this with feminized seeds and be more sure of getting females, I didnt get one turn hermie on me and they grew a substantial amount of weed per plant.

They are a bit on the pricey side though and you could grow just one and be sure its going to be a fem and then clone clone clone and you only need to pop one seed at a time when you want a new mother.

I personally now prefer to go for the cheapest seeds I can now because I have had decent results with regular nirvana seeds and pull the males out and then clone till your hearts content, thats if you can clone.

Can you do it Video or do you get someone else to do it for you?

No i dont agree with you at all, if you want to go for fem seeds go for it, i got good results with them and got more fems.

Everyone always looks at the price of seeds and think oh they are expensive, but you think about the price of weed and the fact that you can grow your own super skunk or whatever from a seed that costs between 1 and 20 dolllars, if you get 2 oz per plant and get 5 fems out of a pack of seeds then you end up with 10 oz, 10 oz for a pack of seeds that cost how much?

Good info , NGT. I considered the Fem Seeds. But havent heard enough from people who used them and gave the results. I may give it a shot.

I was hoping to see the pros/cons to using them. So far....I heard the pros....now I need to hear the cons.

Bloodshot, I'm looking for the same information/opinions as you.

Additionally, one of the dilemmas is which feminised seed company to trust. Dutch Passion sounds dependable. Greenhouse seeds has some outstanding strains. Their feminised are cheaper than their non fems I think. But how good are they? And, what is the consequence of one plant going hermie on you? Does it fertilize all your females; is it just a few sections that turn hermie or the entire plant; how much time do you have to catch it and remove the male features? Those are some of my questions. Dutch Passion's information is enrouraging regarding their feminised seeds:

Info "Feminized Seeds"

In an experiment done in 1999 we grew 15 varieties of "feminized" seeds. We started with 30 seeds per variety. The goals were: 1) to determine the percentages of female, male, and hermaphroditic plants. 2) to compare the uniformity (homogeneity) among plants from "feminized" seeds with those grown from "regular" seeds.
1. The results were excellent. Nine out of fifteen varieties had 100% female offspring. Percentages of female plants from the other 6 varieties were between 80 and 90%. These plants were all hermaphrodites, producing their male flowers at the end of their lifecycle.
Seed-setting hardly took place.
No males were found.
2. Approximately 70% of the plants of varieties grown from "feminized" seeds were far more uniform than plants grown from "regular" seeds of the same variety. About 20% of the varieties were a little more uniform, while in 10% of the varieties no difference in uniformity was seen.
If a plant goes hermie on me but doesn't affect the yield in the end, then it wouldn't matter. It sounds like the chance of having a hermie with Dutch Passion seeds is 8% or less. And from their literature it sounds like little consequence even if you do. But I'm really not sure now I want to order DP strains although some of them are no doubt outstanding. I'm looking at Greenhouse feminised and they are inexpensive but of course I don't know if they are dependable.

It's very possible I end up getting regular seeds and just pulling the males. If I use regular seeds, how many of each strain do I need to plant to make sure I come out with at least one female?

I'm extremely new to the growing community and for my first plant I'm just using a seed that I found in some really good bug I bought a few days ago. I have absolutely no idea if this seed will take (I'm assuming it will...) but if it does I have optimal conditions set up for its growth. As a quick side-question how soon can you tell a plants sex (please elaborate on how to determine sex) and how can I prevent Hermies?
I apologize for the off-topic questions but as I said i'm a total noob at this stuff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
