Failing aero

are you in the us? Here's what I'm talking about:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BMVPXL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3/131-7030231-9966011?ie=UTF8&qid=1500563953&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=cool+tube

it's a tube of glass your bulb mounts inside of, you hook one end to your filter and the other to the fan, exhaust outside the room or house for best results. I checked my exhaust fan is a ventech 4" 190 cfm "vortex" type fan, it's 68w, it's been running constantly for four years now, your fan should crush that one
Ok ok. Ty. I was on the right track. But that item is perfect! No jerry rigging needed, for that price!

Thanks again!

you're welcome man hope you get your grow improving soon, for me personally a lot of problems disappeared after i finally bit the bullet and got ventilation under control

I'd have said the same before i got a cool tube, i had buds get within six inches of the light without noticeable burning, those tops were super sticky too. Grab one if you can they are the tits imo
I have one but don't use it because I move outdoors in the hottest months, I should give it a try but I kind of need the heat when I move inside lol.

Mine is currently 3' away from top of plant, and it's 90-92 degrees at the top of the plant.

I can't imagine having them 22" away. To afraid to try.
Yeah - In the cooler months I can put my 600W HPS about 12" from the canopy. But in these hot months it's probably 24". I have an 8000 BTU AC that can barely keep it at 84 degrees

Hello,

Plants are doing good, from what I can tell. Just did an algae clean and slight adjustment of flood tray. It was holding to much water and causing algae. Now it drains better.

My question today is about topping off. Just looking for a little clarity here.

PH has been going between 5.6-6.4 on my schedule. PPMs have hit 1000. (Why do PPMs rise without putting anything into it?). is it the PH up and down? Just curious.

How am I supposed to top off? I have the worst system for telling exactly how many gallons I have currently or how many I just added. I read and read, but left only feeling confused.

Should I just dump out my last 10 gallons of nutrient water, and start with all fresh stuff?

Thanks for any tips! Let me know if I left out some info out.

Your ph is going up due to changes in the water make up and your EC is rising as it becomes more concentrated, a little bit is normal in my setup. I very rarely add back and just dump and fill but lots add back. I get 6-14 days before I change water depending on stage of plants. Read up on the Lucas formula for nothing else than the relationship between nutes and the plant, I found it real helpful even though I don't follow it ;).

Thanks budley.

I'm just finally starting to get a good grasp about concentration, and ph, and PPMs.

I think it explains why my plants took some nitrogen toxicity when my Rez got low? PPMs were nearly 1300 before I topped the Rez.

Now that I've topped and added nutes again, I'm at 950 PPMs.

Gonna keep a close eye on them, and if the nitro burn keeps going, I'll add fresh water to drop my PPMs?.

Thanks, sorry about the pics with lights on.

Hey they've grown ;). Doing well, what's your water temps? I'm all outside right now in compost but looking forward to turning on the switch in the fall. Going to ditch the trays and try something in individual pails, need to figure out the setup.

I'm a proud daddy. Temps are like 65 ish. I got 4 xl air stones and it dropped the temp to 62-65. Was closer to 70 before.

My Setup sucks! I never realized how important it was until now. (Running out of space, etc.) I just added a cool tube, what a pain in the ass to install with those huge flood and Rez trays.

Question: why would 1 plant be suffering from nitrogen toxicity, but not the other? Strands in assuming? They are different, but both sativa hybrids.

Thanks!

that's the bitch about running multi strains. i usually have 3 strains going (6 plants total) and you have to find a happy medium where it's good enough for all plants but not perfect for some.

Lol, shit.

Yep, clones after this for sure. I'm wondering if I should try and add some fresh fresh? I'll go buy a couple gallons of distilled. That way it's 0 ppm going in.

Thanks

i haven't read thru the whole thread, but if you are having problems with aero/hydro, you have to eliminate potential sources of hte problem. if i were you, i'd buy a few of the 5 gal water jugs and fill them up at walmart with RO water. this would eliminate a potential problem (your source water) and allow you focus on other possible issues.

Try lowering the ppm to like 600-650 and work up. I use well water and yes it took a bit to dial in and choose the nutes that worked but now I have no issues with stability. I also like vitamino for veg and stretch as it stopped the blotching I had. I think I would start by lowering ppm then see what happens.

I was getting some pretty bad blotching and mag def. (well water causing lockout) and had a guy mention amino's as a possible help, he was right but don't use it to long into flower at all as it seems to fuck things up re the nitrogen :(.

Yo yo yo!!

Things are going ok. PPMs have turned out to be a real pain in the arsse.

No matter what I do, I'm chasing the problem. I keep adding gallons of 0 ppm water to try and lower it. But they drink it so fast, it's hard to keep the PPMs low.

Humidity sucks, it's getting more and more humid in the tent every inch they grow. Which I hope isn't stunting my bud growth. Is bud growth always hella slow?

Anyways, I think it's time to change this thread from failing aero to "figuring it out"

Haha, cheers!

LOL yes buds grow slow but only in your mind ;). They actually seem to be doing well :). They will start to fill in pretty quick. What is your PPM's doing that your chasing it?

If it's really hot, you'll be losing a lot through evaporation and your ppm's will go up - not even so much because they're drinking it - but that too... I'm going through that now with my RDWC, at best in these warm months I can keep the room at 85 and that's with the AC running 24 x 7 (it's a 10 x 11 room). I have to just keep pouring in RO water once a week or so.

Lol. That sounds about right.

The water is going down super fast. So the PPMs are always in the rise. PLUS, not having RO water is killing me.

Now that I've topped off my original batch of nutes(after veg) 3 times. The PPMs are getting lower . I just topped off last night, and there down to only 600.

Hopefully this will turn some of the clawing around.

Thanks!
