Fact Check: Seeds from a self-pollinating hermie are always females?

"stable" ?

I dunno, I dont breed professionally. I just know that when I do this with the late flower finger pollen, selfed and on other strains too, I always get girls that rock it for years in the rooms. maybe I'm lucky dunno. I dont use the spray chems to get pollen, only the late flower fingers when I want them. so what s going on there?
Soma advertises rodelization to aquire pollen naturally. It is not consistently effective as the stamen at the late phase don't always have viable pollen or even pollen at all.

But if there is viable pollen and a female is pollinated with it you will get a good s-1 or f-1 feminized seed.

Just like you are saying is how I understand and have grown in my garden. My bagseed BLT I have going looks fantastic and just showed female. I never even found a banana. So it was a middle flower hidden one I guess to yield a good mature seed.

A plant can't seed itself at a late phase. It takes weeks for the seed to mature.
I've had too many problems with naner beans years ago. Remember that this stress method was where problems began in the first rounds of "feminizing" of seeds! I simply won't use them - period!

Hmm, Bobcia's and slang eh?

How about at the Thanks giving table after a few rounds of passing food and shots...
Jeese,,,Does that bring back memories.
Little small turkey. Heaping piles of kielbasa, Kapusta, Golumpki, paszteciki z łososia and don't forget the chrzan. Not to mention the quarts of Polish vodka and Am. whiskey at the ends of the table! The whole famdamnly together and shots every time you turned around.....Polish in several dialects flying around! I remember the look on every girl friends face that came to "thanks giving"!

My wife of 35 years this year. Still puts out the bottles of Vodka and Whiskey....My mother, 1 aunt, and a host of cousins. Still carry on the family tradition. I do the cabbage rolls and salmon patties to bodcia's recipe. The Sausage comes from a traditional Polish market with a shit ton of awards for it's kielbasa (no Pole in a 50 mile radius buys it anywhere else). The wife makes the kraut from my ojciec's recipe and she does the horseradish too.

We all sit down together and get stuffed to football and shots....Polish is still spoken at the table...
No man! Jewish / Yiddish. Pot roast and guifilta fish. And noodle koogle for desert.

It depends on the original genetics and you mentioned years ago. I assume you are a better grower with more understanding years later.

I used to get some seeds. Now I pray for 1. I have had some of the best plants from my own buds. I usually have one going from saved s-1's.

I have a beautiful blue dream from an s-1 from someone else's cut right now. And it's clones are good too.

and, no need to say sorry for teaching me stuff man, I really do appreciate it!

I thought that the whole hermie thing was from seed producing growers stressing their plants, like with pins and light switching just to get that expression to grab some pollen to make fem seeds? then those fem seed would often confuse if stressed in similar ways

so I learned this late flower thing, and I dont always get that either, and have seen one flip out way early with the same expessions(yellow fingers in buds) I culled that one before they opened. It wasnt one of my top 35, a new one actually(for me) I didnt try that pollen, but wandered if it wouldnt produce confused plants later too

not claiming I know what I'm doing of course, or even why its always worked great. I was shown the gem, used it, still do today. I dont sell seeds, or even give them away, more like funz is all.

Just to clarify some mis-information. @chemphlegm The yellow fingers or bananas are called stamen. They do not open they are what is already inside a fully developed male flower. If they had pollen it was exposed. They are usually very weak in well bred genetics.

When reversing with chemicals like the breeders there is a much more dramatic effect and it is done the first two weeks of flower.

I didnt get any seeds in the room that one time I culled, so I figure I caught it before it spread pollen.
I have seen these open on other plants, and have seen dust in them and have used the dust to pollinate
some dont have pollen in them I see, and some never open, but I've seen them open.
maybe some are Specious Staminate flowers and some not? I dunno.

something to look at https://www.420magazine.com/forums/frequently-asked-questions/198885-bud-bananas-4-weeks-into-flower.html

Those aren't open. They are a bunch of singles. They just spread out. I meant male flowers with petals open and those nanners are inside the flower.

I just got back from Colorado, and we visited a great shop. One strain we bought was Bruce Banner. As I was breaking up the last bud, and proclaiming how I'd love to grow such a couch lock strain, two seeds appeared.

I brought the seeds home and plan to pop them. I wonder if the grower (Breckenridge Organics) used female seeds for this strain, but there is no way of knowing, I guess. I also got two seeds from my Blue Dream grow, which was female seed.

I figure the BD will be female if they sprout. Anyone know if large CO grow companies use female seeds? I don't mean to derail this thread, but the OP's question is a question I was wondering as well as it applies to the four seeds I now have.

be a difference between them using fem seeds for the crop, or culling out the males from planting regular type seeds(non fems)?
I dont think so, could be wrong
plant those gems !!! could be anything, even stray pollen from a different room, strain, whatever......but likely fire if you grow it instead

Interesting discussion guys.

I have a StarDawg IX that under stress will throw single balls, emerging from the palm of small leaves near he node of lower flowers. I have noticed a ball or two at the top flower sites as well.
not the singlet banana or bananas, but helmeted balls that peel away and reveal a bushel of bananas.

This same plant stops throwing balls and continues to throw all pistils when the stress is removed in the same run.

The balls contain banana clusters, and the bananas contain pollen (I eat them as I pluck them and they are full of pollen dust)

I wouldn't call this plant a "herm" or even intersex, but one that will exhibit intersex traits under some stress.

She dank and isn't getting culled any time soon, just wanted to share.

Those bananas DO have pollen inside them.. at least from what I've found.

I have Chem D bananas saved from a decade ago.

I've had males that refused to bust the bananas until forced and then dust clouds.
how long have you found your pollen to be viable? how is it stored?

I'm absolutely in awe with the results of my tres gear experiences
I can tell you are too

I don't get full flowers but it's the Chemdog genetics that tend to do that. I grow diesel and Thai strains a lot and they are really sensitive that way like your stardog. Remove the stress. Usually takes care of the problem just like you say.

Not sure on the what kind of time window the pollen will remain viable. Have heard from a few weeks, to months to a few years assuming moisture is kept at bay and conditions are optimal.

I have vials of cindy pollen, nearly a decade old, cold stored. It has the appearance just as it did when it was vialed. Light yellow dust.

Next batch of girls to go in I'll dust some lower branches and come back and share if any of it takes.

Back to the intersex discussion. Some of the best herb I've ran and cuts I've kept had thrown the bananas. It's kind of a compromise running those strains. ECSD was another one that had tendencies to freak out, but the flowers were worth it.
