Ok bro I have the solution to your problem goto discounyhydroponics.com and type in the search bar thermal imageing and theres going to be a real thermal imageing gun that comes up and off to the side there will be something called Block IR anyways if you go ahead and get that roll and hang it Its only going to read to any helicopter as a cold room asomething that is just less than ambient temps kinda like a garage or a bedroom that doesnt warm up so there it is than you can sleep once again Good Luck.

If they serendipitously notice suspicious heat signatures while looking for something else then they can follow up by searching out admissable concrete evidence to get a warrant, and never need to mention that flir opened the door initially.. Or perhaps if the signature is obvious enough, and they have a valid excuse for accidentally finding this house with flir, a judge may issue a warrant on that alone.. Once they have a warrant they don't need flir, they'll just bust in..
If they have legal leads though, then obviously their time is better spent following up on those, that I'm not arguing..

Sure that most certainly is possible if a grower has blatantly parked a couple of 600s against a wall. But that alone is not enough to get a search warrant which is why you never see FLIR only cases going to trial.

If that were the case, again, that would mean there would be lots and lots of search raids resulting in no grow rooms because lots of other things do cause heat signatures on the outer walls of a house, wall heaters, stove hoods, dryers, indoor furnaces, large wall mounted plasma tvs, saunas, steam boxes, and the list goes on.

The fact is there are only two or three cases where the cops raided when FLIR images were used to get warrants, where no grow room was found. The rest all came from informants: friends, foes, neighbors, the mailman, the meter reader, UPS, FEDEX, friends of friends, ex partners, and others, tipping off the police about your grow op.

Look for yourself, in every instance that FLIR was used, it was after the informant tip off, and it was used to generate the grounds necessary for a judge to issue warrants.

In the rare cases where there are no so called unusual heat blotches, where the power bill is not out of the usual usage range, that is when the police step to the next level of 'means to an end' tactic you mentioned.

These range from apparent accidental discover via: fake burglarys, fake informants, falsefied interpretations of FLIR images, false reports of marijuana odor, false sniffer dog hits, all resulting in meeting the criteria of probably cause.

Again FLIR in those cases is not the first or sole means to an end.

Growers need to focuss 99.99% of their detection avoidance efforts on the security of their networks of friends, odor control, and keeping the power bill to reasonable levels. If you feel the need, line your grow room with mylar.

In the end, with even the most mylar'd IR Blocked grow room, you are still susceptable to the MOST used techniques for generating warrants...

INFORMANTS.

Maybe, I live about 40 min from riverside was going to go check it out still might they have a Flir gun there for sale. after watching Barry Coopers video on Flir and a couple other videos you would have to be running a couple of 1000 watt lamps or venting i do neither so its all good i live alone in a 3 bedroom apt with portable AC and Fans i keep heat spread out over the house and odors down with a homemade ONA dispensers. IR-blocker Might work but im not paying $300 bucks for some stuff that MIGHT work.

I might head down there in a week or two and try the Ir-blocker out i need to see that it works first before i buy it ... since they have the IR-gun there and grow lights it shouldnt be a problem. I'll PM you let you know if i head down there and the results. I talked to the Manager of DH he sounds cool worth a try.

I found some FLIR video on youtube. It'll give you an idea about what they can see and what FLIR video looks like.

WARNING: In this video, the cops are chasing a guy on foot and offs himself with a shotgun:
YouTube - San Diego Police Pursuit

but the chase happens in a residential neighborhood so you can see what kind of visibility they have into houses.

It may be possible, too, that they would use different imaging systems (or at least different sensitivity settings) if they were looking into houses. I dunno. Hope it's helpful.
Dude that shit was crazy bro. He staight offed his dome, and ya you can't even see any type of heat signatures within the homes.

Didn't read the entire thread so it may have already been said. When I was growing I used 2inch foam board insulation to seal my whole 3x1000w grow show. Then I ducted the room's exhaust into my dryer vent with a 4' tee fitting. My thinking was that they could look all they wanted as long as they did not see heat coming out where it shouldn't be. Anyway, I never got caught.
