Expert Seeds "Sweet Zombie".......

Huh????/ Never heard of it? Neither did I until recently. It appears Expert Seeds is out of Ireland, but made up of a group of growers throughout Europe. It was difficult to find much out about their strains or the seedbank itself but I've seen a few good things so I pulled the trigger and started 25 beans, which all popped- 100% gernination.

Sweet Zombie is "Zombie Virus X Black Domina".......I know all about Sensi Seeds Black Domina, which I've grown in the past and loved the quality. Zombie Virus is a strain that was popular a few years ago, and the strain and the breeder appears out of business. Zombie Virus has a genetic background of BOG Medley/Sour Bubble/Rainbow #4 and an afghani. Black Domina has Northern Lights/Ortega/Hash Plant and Afghani. The Z.V. is 90% inidica while the B.D. is 95%.

Here's a Zombie Virus grow on Youtube:

And a strain review of Black Domina on Youtube:

As you have have guessed by now, it's a high yielding, short in stature, early finishing strain that smells like blackberries and plum- almost sickly someone said. It colors out at purple/black with orange hairs and delivers a full body high with strong relaxation and pain relief.

Below is a pic of the room, day 13 since popping. New entry's will be once a week, but I'll be by to answer questions and read comments.

I can't seem to download pic's right now but I'll post them when RIU straightens out their problems.

So, today is day 28 in veg, and I finally cut the lights to 12/12 to start flowering. Very uniform plants, as you can see. A bit stinky already, smells exactly like the Black Domina grow I did years ago. Plants look leafy too, which I was told to expect. Very easy grow so far, with MEDIUM fertilizer level. I've bumped up the cal/mag a bit after spotting some crinkling of the sun leaves- getting better already. And added more N to green up the plants a bit more. I'll continue the veg ferts (Botanicare Pure Blend Pro) for another 10-12 days, then go 50/50 veg/flower for a few weeks before switching to an all flowering formula. Watering every 2-3 days at this point, using ferts every time.

Are you seeing any of the black/purple coloration in the buds? I'm growing HSO Black D.O.G. also, and the pheno I'm growing has buds that are nearly yellow with bright orange hairs, very pretty but no dark colors at all. I even lowered my room temps to 75f during the day and 60f at night, still no purple. Hoping the Double Black will give me some color, but if it turns out to be as good a smoke as the D.O.G., I'll be pretty happy.

I just saw Expert Seed Bank (http://expertseedbank.com) put up a link to the grow on their main home page, on the left side and on their facebook page.........this is the breeder of the Sweet Zombie I'm growing. I also just pulled the trigger and bought 25 seeds of their Gorilla Wreck (Gorilla Glue X Cookie Wreck) for my next grow. They are also currently running a 15% off sale thru March, along with handing out some wonderful freebies. Very reasonable seed pricing, especially if you are looking for a bulk buy (50+ seeds)......AND they take charge cards!!!!!

Worry not Naoise, I'll do the strain proud!

Just to review my K.I.S.S. method, 4 gallon pots with Pro-mix, dolomite lime and perlite. I fertilze with Botanicare Pure Blend Pro, Cal/Mag, Pure Blend Tea, G.H. Floralious Plus and Flying Skull's Z7, an enzyme to keep roots clean and at full efficiency. I use R.O. water only, and always pH to 6.4 to 6.5, and never outside that range. Straight veg ferts thru the 2nd week of flowering, then 50/50 mix of veg/bloom for two weeks. Then at week 5 onward full bloom ferts with Botanicare Hydroplex, a bloom maximizer, for a few weeks. Last 10-14 days, nothing but water and maybe a bit of molasses. Let the plants dry out well towards the end......

Change lights every 2.5-3 crops, keep room spotlessly clean and study plants EVERY day for bugs, deficiencies, heat issues, etc. to nip things early if necessary........

Back today at exactly the 2 week flowering mark.........couldn't wait to show everyone a picture. I guess the thing as of now that stands out is how quick they are. They started budding around day 7-8, extremely early comparatively. Maybe the only thing I've ever seen that was quicker was Sensi's original Hash Plant, the pheno I had was WELL done in 47-48 days of flowering but only yielded 1/2 oz max per plant. These are going to yield way more by the look of things. Stretch total was maybe 1 foot, another surprise as I fully expected them to about double in size, but this isn't a bad thing as they've bushed out nicely. Very healthy, I'm maintaining about a 1000-1100 ppm with 7-10ml of Cal/Mag. I'm now fertilizing with a 50/50 mix of veg and bloom for another 10-14 days and then I'll switch to 100% bloom with a booster until I flush them.

I also see my recent Gorilla Wreck order is at my post office, so it took 8 days to get the seeds from Ireland to the east coast of U.S.- faster then most of the seed company's. As I've never tried anything from Expert Seeds before, potency will be the final deciding mark in the end, but up til now, I couldn't be happier. I've read a few other smoke reports on this strain, and they were all "glowing" so I don't expect to be let down in the end.

21 days flowering today, you'll be able to see bud growth quite clearly when comparing to the pic above. A few notes:

1. In my grows of 24-25 plants each crop, I usually have a runt or two in the litter- a plant that just is behind, not as healthy, etc. This crop, every plant has performed well.
2. Smell is coming on now, probably a 4.5/10 on the smell meter. It's definitely getting stronger.
3. I ended up trimming some of the lowest growth on the plant (a bit of lollipopping) to increase air flow, making it easier to water and the plants could concentrate their growth on the buds and not the little stuff not getting enough light.
4. No hermies or male banana's to report after a thorough check thru the room.
