Thanks to legalization the legislature now in special session has an add on to stop patient home grows and give all profit to the state thru the liquor board. Hello legalization...the compassionate use of cannabis act is on its death bed. Write your reps and make sure they know it is not ok to keep sick folks from growing their own medicine......They are insisting it must be done to squash the black market so the state can make all the money. What total bull. My patients can't afford 380 a z on disability that is around 800 a month. Thanks.

Yes we are in for interesting times ahead. I highly doubt they will "squash" home grows but I do see them levying taxes against "medical" cannabis.

Yes, they are trying to end medical grows... There was a big rally earlier this week (in Olympia) to help protect patient rights. Get informed people.

I don't. it really is all about money folks
Moving to CO if this shit passes
haha and when they do the same there?

greedy politicians looking to put some easy money in the states coffers. If it stays legal for rec. use. It will be regulated and taxed by the state to no end.If by some slim chance it is ever legalized nationally add federal taxes on there too. Fucking idiots say they are trying to eliminate the black market. Ha What they are really doing is keeping the black market alive and well. Also in doing so they are securing the jobs of the bloated prison system because there will always be those who break rules.

"Meanwhile at the state capitol, medical marijuana patients rallied against a legislative proposal to give the Liquor Control Board authority over medical cannabis too. Patients worry the board would recommend the medical product be taxed.

Some lawmakers argue it makes sense to put the liquor board in charge so it can integrate the medical and recreational marijuana markets."

Yep... they guuna tax it all.....they wanna make it all one....cause medicine is tax free

Well I just e-mailed all our rep's, senators and what not... heres a copy of what I wrote to give ya all a few key notes if ya'd like to follow suit. Just please don't copy paste...

Dear ,

This letter is to voice my concern about the concept of the WLCB being given control of MEDICAL Cannabis grows.

In the passing of Initiative 502 the question has been raised whether or not the Medical Cannabis market would interfere with state taxed Cannabis. Despite this being a feasible concern I must state that the Liquor Control Board has absolutely no business in the regulation of MEDICAL cannabis.

I have been working in compassionate care for several years often working with individual's who are qualified for the use of Medical Cannabis. And as such I have been an advocate of medical cannabis and other forms of naturopathic medicine for some time. But I also understand the recreational user and most importantly I recognise the difference between MEDICAL and RECREATIONAL Cannabis use. And I do not feel that many of the individual's that believe that Medical Cannabis should be regulated by the WLCB would know that difference. In my experience so far many of these individual's seem jaded, and influenced by their personal moral beliefs and experiences.

Furthermore the concept has been brooched that Medical Cannabis should be taxed as Recreational Cannabis. I must say that is rather absurd in my humble opinion. To my understanding there isn't a tax on Vicodin, Tylenol or even Robitussin. Perhaps because of the potential revenue is why this concept has been brooched but it still comes down to taxing the sick is a ethically cloudy business. And further more if the taxes were levied against medical cannabis it will drive the price to the point where legitimate patients would no longer be able to afford their medication. Medical Cannabis (for most) is grown under a higher standard than recreational cannabis. In fact many medical growers go to great length's to ensure their cannabis does not contain any trace of foreign residues, fertilizers and pesticides via the use of specialty organic methods.

And I must ask how is it pertinent or even considerable placing a board in control of recreational substances in control of medicine. What next will we be merging the department of education with fish and game? My analogy doesn't make much sense, and neither does control of medication to a series of individuals with no medical background.

My final point comes down to a question of use. It is not uncommon for an average recreational user to consume 3.5 grams of "high quality" cannabis within a 7 day period. Now if one factor's in a few things for a medical user; such as tolerance and amount necessary for relief and how often the medication needs to be consumed for relief many patients can end up consuming daily 100%-500% of what the recreational user would find sufficient for a week after they have been using regularly for some time.

To conclude I must once again state that as a registered voter and longtime advocate, I am against the WLCB controlling Medical Cannabis.

Thank you for your time,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I have a hard time with all this bitching about the possibility of pot being taxed. That was one of the main points FOR legalization, all the tax money it would bring in and now you're bitching like crazy. Progress has a price, deal with it.

One thing I know the patient's voice was heard prior and will be heard again. Medical cannabis should not be treated as recreational. PERIOD!

SERIOUSLY you don't vote and you think you've won something? if you don't stand up and fight OUTLOUD, you will remain unheard! putting your head in the sand like a ostridge won't make the sun beating down on your back disappear

from what I've read on this thread, you need to step up and let the alcohol board know what you want for your medical needs, versus just party time pot that SHOULD be classified just like alcohol. you are on the steps to showing the FEDs you the people of WA are responsible adults and can govern yourselves just like the founding fathers said you could and fought to put in the constitution the rules about the powers of the state versus the FED.

Fight don't run, unless you are just interested in being a greedy grower just like the fucks at the Pharma complex

The reason why I don't Vote, is because basically I'm Voting for the Best LIAR and to me I can see through everyone.

What happened to bringing our troops home? And we voted on legalizing?
My head is not in the sand. It's just not in my ass so far that I'm taller than I really am.

To me it was a waste of time. Were never going to be California. We are WA. And the more we say, "Oh, we should legalize and put everything in big Brothers Hands" the more we get screwed with Outlaws and Trials.... Did I want Pot to be left alone? Yes. But I also didn't see why we had to give up our rights to the government. When they didn't even own it in the first place. It was mother nature before you voted... And now it's the Governments "Ticket" to getting out of Debt. I have no part in this. Nor will I ever claim to...
