Nice Doc. Oh Zone is being picked up this week I hope. I'll have a few questions lol. Thanks again for the grow journal, always a pleasure to read.

Here's a description of a new strain Doc is releasing. Its really made for outdoor but is apparently good indoors as well.
I will be doing a journal on them as soon as they arrive and they should be available for purchase in a little while.

Here's what he said.....

We are very, very, excited and proud to announce a 100% new and exciting strain. We've named her Gold Mine because she really is just that, a gold mine, especially for outdoor commercial growers. Gold Mine is very early and incredibly potent. Almost as early as Iranian Autoflower, many times bigger and while Iranian Autoflower is no joke in the potency department, this plant is even more potent; in my opinion, Gold Mine is as potent as Chemo.

Dr. Gruber has agreed to Journal her for us but we'd like to have an outdoor grower do her, perhaps from "down under" or South America, over the winter season here, so growers in Europe and North America can see what she can do before the next outdoor season. Available to the general public soon.

Gold Mine;

100% Indica

Gold mine is an intensely potent, unusual, never seen before, new strain, that works well indoors and out but is going to be an outdoor revolution, just like Iranian Autoflower was in it’s time; a real Gold Mine for outdoor growers

Very sturdy branches with dense buds of large, over-size cola’s, it grows like a candelabra, with long, full, fonds of unusal-looking buds with a unique flower structure unlike anything you've ever seen before.

Goldmine is in the same “auto flower” category as Iranian AutoFlower except it is slightly later and it is a totally different strain. However, it is photoperiod sensitive plant and flowers very early. ZERO Ruderalis

Taste: creamy butterscotch notes.
Potency: VERY Strong and long lasting.
Outdoor Finish: August to early September
Height 4-5 feet
Yield: up two pounds a plant.

Indoors:

Height: 2-4 feet, when flowered at 8-12 inches tall.
4-5 feet when flowered at 18-24 inches
Yield: up to 2 pounds when grown tree style.
Perfect for SOG, or tree style techniques.
Flowering time; @12/hrs light 55-65 days"

I ha

ive never read that he lost key moms and pops except from 1 or 2 people but that was only in regard to Endless Sky, which i don't believe anyway. In my opinion you find very little variation in GT strains. Grower after grower remarks on the consistency from plant to plant which in my understanding is a hallmark of S1's.

Yes, its a good idea to grow them out before deciding which to keep.
S1's are never uniform unless the parent plant is completely homozygous. If it's completely heterozygous it's no different than an F2 (minus the male chromosomes).

Hard to buy people getting uniform plants from most of his S1's outside of Bubba (which is only partly uniform) and C99 with perhaps a couple others I am not as familiar with being in a similar boat.

OG will throw a large number of phenotypes. Any of the Hazes are in the same boat.

Im not a breeder so i wouldn't know, that's why i said it was "my understanding" that it was a hallmark of S1's.
However, I stand by my comment that "grower after grower remarks on the consistency".
I don't know how he does it, but he does.

I understand somewhat that S1's can be quite unpredictable but if you find a great pheno the resulting clones would a retain that exact copy, correct? I have read lots of posts about DGT, some great, some not so great, but no different from any other breeder out there. I am waiting for a 5 pack of OH Zone and will post all the info from seed to cut. Hopefully I am getting what I'm paying for, which is a top shelf product that will replace my blueberry cut I lost a few years back. I have a few concerns so far but nothing that would warrant cancelling the grow. Keep you all posted, if I get the call to come get them that is lol.

i have found s1's to be very close to the selfed clones..so much so that you BETTER make sure you label them well..

selfed crosses "should" have more variation and that is expected...but science is not always correct

and i do not listen much to the web scientists..only what i observe

personally i am looking for something that is like what has been selfed as well as maybe a gem or two that may be different

as good or better...

other than that..when the pollen flies it has its "own mind"...... like weather patterns

SMOKE REPORT—
Endless Sky

Final Weight---
Plant 1- 6+ oz's
Plant 2- 7+ oz"s
Approximate weight- I lost track at the end but this is very close.

INFO-
Tester Name:
Dr Gruber and patient.

Strain:
Endless Sky
(Iranian Indica X Grenadine)

Breeder:
Dr Greenthumb

Grower:
Dr Gruber

Method Smoked:
Joints, glass pipes.
(Dr Gruber’s Personal Favorite-Joints)

Soil/Hydro:
Promix Potting Soil-(Drain to Waste)

Flower Time:
44-64 days
personal preference- 50-55 days

Grow Comments-

This strain uses more Phosphorus during early to mid veg then any strain i've grown. If Fisher420 at the Skunk Forum hadn't told me about their need of "P", I would have probably killed them all before they made it into the flower room.
After that, they were easy to grow and required the normal NPK ratios for Veg.

Note* It may be possible to have faster finish times if you start to slowly limit the nitrogen as flowering progresses.

Smell-
Earthy/Floral

Associated smells of bud:
Fruity

TASTE-
Floral/Fruity

Dominant flavor:
Floral

Associated flavors:
Earthy/ Hashy

Flavor Intensity-(Sour Diesel or Bubba Kush would be a 9 or 10.)
7.5

Harsh/smoothness: (1-10, 1 being extremely harsh and 10 being extremely smooth) --
8-Very smooth

Cough factor? : Yes/no ---
no

Flavor Comments-

While ES is not a flavor powerhouse like Chemdawg or Bubba Kush, it is certainly no slouch in that department. It has a sweet floral taste, that lingers on your taste buds for a while. The flavor reminds me very much of smoke from the late 80's/early 90's.
Not the top flavor in my garden but still a welcome addition for the most refined palette.

BUZZ Profile—

I asked one of my patients that had smoked Endless Sky years ago to help with the buzz profile. His ratings and comments will be in red.
We have different rating systems but you will get the idea.

Potency: (1-10, 1 being extremely weak and 10 being extremely potent)

My rating-9

Patient rating-"Solid 8"

Duration: (length of buzz, from first hit)
2 hours

Overall Plant Rating-
Grower only-(yield+taste+potency+etc)
8.3
This plant yields well, has nice flavor and potency, and has really nice bag appeal.

Patient rating- (Potency + Taste+ Ease of Use)
8
Grinds well-easy to use in a one hitter.
Good Taste and Potency

Munchies: Yes/no----
Yes
No patient input

Comments-
'Relaxing but not couchlock. Not a super motivational buzz but good for pain relief. Exactly like the samples of ES I had years ago'.

I'm in total agreement with my patient on the buzz profile. It relaxes you but does not put you to sleep. Its very good at calming my leg spasms and other fibromyalgia type issues. Good for hanging out with friends, watching movies, or having conversations. Also good for watching sunsets or just looking at that Endless Sky.

Final Comment-
I've never seen a plant need so much Phosphorus during veg and this could account for the reports of troubles growing this strain. Once you have that figured out it grows very well, and pretty trouble free.
I stressed these plants at the beginning of flower and they remained stable and didn't even throw a late flower nanner.
This strain has a very thought inducing, relaxing buzz, reminiscent of Doc's "The Dope".

Medical qualities:

Pain associated with Fibromyalgia and other causes.

Nausea relief

Thanks Doc! Great thread as per usual! Just got the room all redone for the start of another indoor season and stoked to get the Oh Zone going. Probably start germing it tomorrow. I like to run bleach through the system before I actually put the seedlings in. Any starting hints would be appreciated. I'm going to run them in the lps setup and will be starting at around .2ec and work up from there. Thanks again for the great info.

When is this coming. I must have. So it grows fast like an autoflower.

I liked Endless Sky, bought it twice from Dr. Greenthumb but I thought it was hard to trim.

I try to pick easy to trim strains now but nobody rates them that way.

I hate spending a whole day trimming.
