Employer Guidelines on Marijuana Usage

I can understand the perspective of this piece on employers drafting marijuana policies into their employee handbooks. It makes sense to me in the same way the 2-beer-max on lunchbreaks makes sense. However, I feel like the article's tone is a bit heavy-handed. To be perfectly honest, I've showed up to work drunk and I've showed up stoned - no one really noticed the difference other than me being in a better mood. But I don't think weed affected my work performance anymore than the alcohol. While I believe employers should cover themselves, it makes sense to me that 81% aren't really that worried. There's nothing to worry about.

I'm a painter, crack filler, drywaller and I don't work without my smoke. Fuck I've already smoked 4 fatties this morning. It's just too monotonous without a little entertainment in my mind. It makes me content with working too. I save the beers for after work but I've had all of my guys show up hammed a time or two and I didn't notice any difference in their work.
